No full hookups, only stayed 1 night. We supposed to be 31.00 ended up paying 40.00. Does not tell you that it is 5.00 extra to pay with a card.
Loved this stop! Only reason it isn't 5 star is the road noise, but the friendliness, convenience and discounts were worth the sound of I40! $42 for rv site but half off for military discount! Awesome clubhouse common area with TV, bathroom, laundry, microwave, couches, books, toys for kids, games. You can also buy petrified wood here for cheaper than any other local place! 10 min from National Forest. Owner recently passed and family is doing the best they can with repairs and updates. I highly reccomend this stop.
Reservations: The owner/manager was immediately responsive. Checkin: We arrived late. A package awaited us at the office. Called owner and she was friendly and informative. We extended our stay one day beyond what was originally anticipated and that process could not have been more convenient. Location: Campground is located in Sun Valley which appears to be a developers attempt at creating a town. Site condition: The sites are gravel, level, and solid. Campground road is gravel. The sites are average in their length and width. Navigating the campgrounds is trivial, as the campground is quite small. There are no untrimmed trees, narrow roads, or vehicles parked in the road. A recent traveler had clipped the office roof, to no fault of the campground. Utilities: Electric, water, and sewer were all very good. The power dipped only slightly when I pulled 45 amps. Local attractions: I believe this to be the closest campground to the north entrance of Painted Desert/Petrified Forest. There are no other businesses in this "town" except for a knife shop. Amenities: Bathrooms/showers were being refurbed at the time. No problem for us, as we usually shower in the motorhome. Dumpster was a short walk. No pool, playground or other such amenities. Internet access: Internet via Wifi was slow, adequate for patiently catching up on the news and pulling down your email. Problems: None. You can hear I-40 from your vehicle, but for the typical RV traveller you wont find it to be an objectionable level. My wife and I would have a hard time sleeping now without at least a little highway in the background. Summary: This is a simple basic RV campground that will provide your water, electric, and sewer. The campground is run by a very nice young lady and reportedly her husband. Despite the lack of amenities I give them 3 stars because they meet the basic needs at an exceptionally good price.
As the washer and dryers werd clean as the sam with the shower and bath room. Did not have time to use the pool as everyone there was very friendly as i wzs happy to see a few Canadiens there i do want to return
The host was nice and very easy to deal with. The showers are currently out of order but that was no big deal, we just needed a place to park for the night. They are working on upgrading the grounds. There are picnic tables at each spot which was very nice as we are traveling in a car. We didn't need to do laundry but there are washers and driers. I would happily stay here again.
Easy in and out of the freeway. Easy pull through with 50 amp or 30 amp. The 50 amp sites are on the North side so a little farther from road noise. I was surprised that is was fairly quite for being that close to the freeway. Super friendly host, new owner. Prefect for overnight. Don't remember what I paid but did receive a good military discount. Update. Place has traded hands again, new owner was not there and the office was locked. Woman living in adjacent house came out and took my money. Still a good overnight stop
Wonderful place to stay if you are going to the Petrified Forest National Park and the Painted Desert, very beautiful places to visit. Sun Valley RV is the only RV campground near the 2 sites. The owner, a very nice man, purchased the property in March 2019 and is making it a great place to stay for a few nights while you sight-see. Furthermore, there is a huge amount of petrified wood over in the corner of the property, for sale at $1.50 a pound. I picked out 5 pounds of smaller pieces to bring home as gifts and souvenirs. Water and electric are good, laundry room and bathrooms are fine, owner is repairing the sewer issue. We were so glad we stopped here. 5 stars for location, amenities, and peacefulness.
Javier, the owner, was so hospitable and friendly. He saved the day for us when we needed to find a place to park our camper van for the night and treated us like family. His gift shop has beautiful petrified wood, stones and handmade items for a fraction of the price elsewhere. I recommend stopping here even just to buy some petrified wood from his huge collection which ranges from quarter-sized pieces to large table-sized stumps. You can't beat his prices or his hospitality. We'll be back to visit when we drive through again!
Resort?? Parking lot maybe! But all the hookups worked. Right off the highway 40, so convenient for a night's stay. He wanted to charge an additional $5 per night for using a credit card! At 3% credit card charge, that should be less than $1.50! Will avoid staying there in the future.
The only reason I'm not giving this place 5 stars is because of highway noise but everything else we experienced more than made up for that. We spent two nights here exploring the Petrified Forest National Park. Javier who runs the place is a character and couldn't have been more accommodating. He even gave us a jar of his fantastic homemade green chili salsa at the mere mention that we wanted to have some while in AZ. He is working hard to improve the place since he acquired it a few months ago. He has coffee and pastries in the morning for anyone who wants it. We were able to do laundry during our two week trip. Bathroom is spotless. No showers as of yet but he's working on being able to provide that. If you want a comforting, convenient place to stay on historic Route 66 this is it.
