The Roseland Police Department is a community-oriented police organization comprised of commissioned officers. We provide around the clock services in the Borough of Roseland to our 5,000+ residents.
Detective Bureau: (REPORT A CRIME) If you see a crime, please report it to our Detective Bureau by calling 973-226-8700
Traffic Bureau: The Roseland Traffic Bureau deals with any matter concerning traffic flow and vehicular parking on Roseland Borough streets. The Bureau also handles motor vehicle accident reporting and investigations.
For all emergencies, please call 911 | If you accidentally call 911 by mistake: Stay on the line and let the dispatcher know what happened. We have no way of knowing if you dialed the wrong number or if there is actually an emergency unless we can contact you, so all 911 calls (even hangups) are treated as emergencies. Most of the time a person has dialed the phone again so we have to have an operator break into the line so we can speak with someone and confirm that there is no emergency. In the meantime a police officer is being sent to the address just in case it is an emergency. All of this could be avoided if you just stay on the line and say "Sorry, wrong number."
To get a copy of a police accident report you must do the following:
Mail a request to the Roseland Police Traffic Bureau

Include any information as to the Location, Date, or Complaint Number of the Accident
Enclose a check in the amount of $5.00 made payable to the "Borough of Roseland" and enclose a self addressed stamped envelope.
The Traffic Bureau will mail you a copy, when completed
