Description

Route 66 Motor Speedway is a high-banked clay oval 3/8 mile track. We run five classes of race cars including modifieds, limited modifieds, street stocks, cyclones and pony stocks. We provide a family-friendly atmosphere with full concessions and souvenir shop. We run from early May through late September each year, excluding holiday weekends. Plenty of parking is available with access for handicap and 18-wheelers. The track is located east of town 1-1/2 miles south of I-40 on Lakeside. Gates open at 6 pm, races start at 7.

West Texas Raceway in Lubbock was still too muddy. Needed a track to take my nephew who we're fostering to before I bought tickets to the NASCAR All-Star race next weekend. So we made the trip up. Man... what a great facility. Prices at the gate... not bad. Concession prices and availability... not bad. And the fact that we went up and it was fan appreciation night and all the cars came out on track... you may have helped hook me a 7yr old in racing. : He immediately became a fan of the 16yr old racing in the tuner division name left out since she's a minor, but K was super sweet and everything and he liked that she was "a kid like me!".  Big thanks to Chris Douglas for letting him climb in the Sprint Car and to the street stock driver who I didn't get his name for doing the same.  Thanks to the flag man for letting him climb up and operate the lights. And thanks to the entire crew at Route 66 for giving him and the rest of the kids there a night they won't forget! We can't make the trip every week, but he's already asking when we're going back!

Best time I have had in a long time! My six year old loved it. We will be here regularly.

Dirt track racing was fun and exciting. Lots of families there, kids 12 and under free, ear plugs, shirts, lots of things in the gift shop, and the food was good too.

Wonderful Experience! Low cost admission, Fun announcers! Spectacular Track and the fireworks were a Surprise Treat!

My 1st races, another bucket list checked off.  It was really fun.

Great time. Kid friendly.  Great way to spend a Saturday night. Exciting races. Well worth it!
