I started raising rabbits for meat for two reasons. One to cut down on our grocery bill. The price of meat has become ridiculous. We bought a 5lb log of ground beef (they cheapest one) and it was over $16. I remember when it was half than and not as fatty. My second reason is because I like to know what is in my meat. I despise the fact that growth hormones are used on chicken and one day I will be raising chickens for eggs and meat too. However, it is better to start small and grow from there. So for now I just raise rabbits and grow fruits and vegetables for my table.
About my Rabbits:
Breeders: A pair of Sliver Foxes, (looking to add at least one more doe soon). Standard Rexes 2 bucks and 4 does (looking to add more does soon). Champagne D'Argent 1 doe (Fisher lines) currently looking for a buck (hoping to find a Planks buck soon).
Other animals:
I also have two Sugar Gliders Meeko (standard gray) and Meeka (WFB). They recently had twin boys that will be getting fixed soon so that Mom and Dad can get a nice break from breeding and not get lonely.
