The New Media Concentration is a 6-course sequence that provides students with advanced and specialized instruction in the design, development and maintenance of digital, interactive media projects.
The concentration is open to all students who are enrolled in a major housed within the College of Communication. Students whose majors are housed outside of the College of Communication can be eligible to enroll in the program with the permission of the New Media Concentration Coordinator. Most courses that are part of the program are housed in the College of Communication, although the concentration incorporates relevant coursework from other departments.
Objectives of the Program
• To give students expertise in new media from applied, critical, social and theoretical perspectives.
• To provide expertise from a technical and societal standpoint;
• To expose students to thoughtful consideration of the ethical implications of new media
• To help students understand the business and political economic fundamentals of new media
• To aid students in seeking jobs or other opportunities (such as graduate school) in their selected career path.
To provide quality instruction regarding the development, design, creation and implementation of digital, interactive media projects.
