I’ve shopped & sold at rumors many times and have always had such a positive experience! The staff is so friendly & polite & helpful, amazing vibes, great clothes at the most reasonable prices! I have been dealing with some personal difficulties lately, and the whole staff Juliet, Cai, Ana, & Jenna today really brightened my mood and lifted my spirits : They were able to help me find a few great new pieces to add to my wardrobe to boost my confidence. I am so grateful for Rumors - it’s an amazing local business & I highly recommend stopping by whether you are local or visiting the area!

Rumors is great and has a pretty decent selection. It definitely used to be cheaper but most items are affordable. This isn't a thrift store, it's a consignment store, so don't come expecting thrift store prices. Selling here has always been a great experience for me. They are way more reasonable than Plato's and will give you a pretty good cut. There is a list up front of what they are specifically looking for so you can know what to bring. My only issue is that there is a huge lack of plus size clothing. There is one small rack dedicated to plus sizes, as opposed to the many other racks that cater to smaller people. If you're bigger than a size 12, you might have a hard time here. I understand that some of this is an issue with demand, as Rumors operates almost solely based on public donations, but I wish they would make more of an effort to seek out plus size clothing. All of their Instagram models and customer shots are skinny people too... would be nice if they were a little more inclusive to mid and plus size folks.
Rumours is a lovely store with so many fun clothing items and jewelry !! I loved all the patterns and colors !! I really enjoyed talking to the employees about the fun earrings, very friendly customer service. Pretty good prices and definitely some good steaks here and there. Would definitely recommend to anyone who finds themselves in chapel hill!
Rumors has many different styles of clothing, especially ones that are more modern and for with the times. Some prices are higher than what you would expect when thrifting. It is kinda small but also very clean. They also sell jewelry, sunglasses, hats and shoes. Side note, masks are required to enter.Overall, it’s a fun place to shop and/or sell your clothes
Im sure this falls on deaf ears but I honestly can’t believe the way the staff and rumors just spoke to me, my girlfriend and our friend. After a confusing incident with our friends buy having an item unaccounted for, we came back to the store after paying to pick up our water bottle we forgot at the counter. The buyer Juliette immediately jumped to explain what had happened and it didn’t make any sense to us, and we already were confused about the unaccounted for shorts. It seemed she thought we’d come to confront her but we hadn’t even seen the text she sent moments before. We felt that there was something funny going on because we have been stolen from before at thrift stores in this way. We asked clarifying questions to try to understand what happened and Juliette was very dismissive, passive aggressive, and talked to my friend like they were crazy when we came in ready to just talk and understand. She gaslit my friend about the whole situation and called my girlfriend aggressive just for asking clarifying questions. We have been weekly customers to rumors for years and have never had an issue, we have always had great experiences and love the clothes the buyers choose. However I have seen Juliette become passive aggressive and very invalidating to my friends when we are asking simple questions, and her defensiveness and blatant disrespect appalled me, i don’t understand why she has something against my gf. But i have always been around during those moments and I have not seen the aggression Juliette accused her of today. She is always kind and just wants to understand why things are or aren’t taken, if the buyers don’t like explaining themselves because they feel defensive for some reason that’s not on her. I know Juliette’s story will be heard over us but Im so dissapointed in how we were treated today and Juliette’s comments to my gf were truly hurtful to her. Don’t call your customers aggressive for asking questions you don’t want to answer.
Loved loved loved!!!! found all kinds of cute outfits, so easy to find with size labels and clearly priced no guessing games. Trendy vibes, they where at capacity on a Saturday afternoon but the wait was less than 8 mins to get it. popular shopping spot; perfect for back to class shopping.best thrift/vintage shop in the area... says alot coming from me Im an adamant thrifter.
Love rumors it’s our favorite thrift store. One thing is I’ll say don’t buy some of the stuff at the front as that is not truly thrift. But everything is so cute and great prices!

decent selection of straight sizes, but plus size options are never advertised online and shoved into a corner. too much fast fashion and diy crop tops for "quality consignment"
