Steve Norris has had a long standing career in the field of running. He started his impressive running career at New Canaan High School. As a senior in 1963, he broke the 1/2 mile school record with a time of 1:59.5. At DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana in 1967, he broke the 4x4 440 yard relay record with 3:18.7, which still stands. Steve has coached the Darien High School Girls Cross Country and Track teams for 108 seasons beginning in 1976 to date. In that same year, Steve created the Girls Cross Country program within the FCIAC.
To date, during his career at Darien High School Norris has lead his team to 12 FCIAC championships and 7 State championships. In 2010, Steve was recognized for his success by being inducted into the Connecticut Coaches Hall of Fame.
In 2016, the Runner's Roost Steve along with other business partners opened the Runner's Roost in it's current location on Friday, November 24th. In on the ground floor were local coaches Jim Gerweck and Bill Mongovan, who continue to be active business partners.
On a personal note Steve enjoys mountain climbing, and biking.
