In 2002, a dream came true when Bill & Jennifer Thompson opened "Runners Performance Footwear & Apparel" in Bay City, Michigan. As the only sales employee, Bill often brought his young son to the store while he helped customers find their perfect fit. His mantra to "Custom Serve" came from his grandmother, who remembered the "old days" of great customer service at shoe stores she visited as a child.
In the years since, we have grown into four local locations to better serve our community. In 2016, we changed our name to Runners Athletic Company to reflect the more inclusive attitude we have for all of our customers. We are not just a "running store"... we exist to help anyone in our community who moves... move better!
