Dinner here was amazing after a long day on the frac. I had the stuffed pepper steak. It was really delicious and definitely worth the wait. The onion rings are also delicious and good sized. The sweet tea was perfect and the waitress I had was very kind and prompt. The restaurant itself definitely has that old timey steakhouse feel to it. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Cotulla, Texas.
Checked out Country Store today and very glad I did. Y’all have to try the Cowboy Burger, your taste buds will thank you. It has very tasty brisket on top of a beef patty. The meal includes two large crisp onion rings and seasoned fries, both were very good. I took half of everything home for a second meal. The service was quick and very friendly staff. And, I hear Thursday steak night is awesome, definitely checking it out.
Great friendly place to visit. Food was ok. Had the stuffed pepper steak. Basically a large hamburger patty with green peppers and onions inside. Fries okra was pretty good, green beans were ok as well, but needed salt. Staff is exceptional. Very friendly and attentive.Food: 3/5
We have eaten in and carried out with mixed results. Carry out chicken fried steak had an obnoxious amount of breading on it. It looked huge, well with a half inch of breading on one side it's no wonder why. Side of mashed potatoes was about 2 tablespoons, no I'm not exaggerating! The Muy Macho Panchos are loaded with meat and a meal for two so they score points there.
Love coming here. I always order the Peppered Steak with the Country Fried corn on the cob. And especially the Country Fried French Fries with Gravy. They are delicious. Will be coming back everytime I pass by Cotulla Tx. Love it!
So, I have eaten here a lot over the past six months. The pancakes are on the crumbly/bready side and served with griddle potatoes under them. The eggs and bacon are good. Hamburgers are okay homemade style. The BBQ brisket is tough and dry but BBQ sausage is cut and grilled which was good. I haven't had the enchiladas and I probably won't. The chicken fried steak is decent normal breaded in house kinda thing. The mashed potatoes are a low effort, barely mashed and not seasoned plain scoop of sadness. I usually pay between $11 - 15 before tip. I think breakfast is the best thing they serve here. Four stars cause my service has been usually good, even during the mediocre meals.
Best chicken fried steak within 100 miles. Nice staff and a great place to eat when at the ranch.
Country Store is getting back up to speed on their menu offerings; they are FINALLY cooking more fresh meats Instead of frozen Sysco Fare! Great refried bean tacos! Brisket well cooked. Flautas have gone back to home made!! Hamburger was perfect! New fries were piping hot though still of frozen variety, but tasty none the less. The carne guisada taco was good seasoning and super tender meat. ~Don’t bother getting the pecan pie. The crust was awful with only a slight layer of pecans on top of pie filling! HOWEVER, The waitstaff is pretty much unconscionable. They are rude, even belligerent when you complain after being served COLD food. One evening, we waited an hour for our food and were served cold food and after pointing this out to them, we were told our food could be reheated in the microwave! I asked to speak with manager on duty and he said bad service was not his problem! Wow! This was the first time EVER in my life that I did not leave my normal 40% tip. I really do leave large tips like that because waitstaff work is super tough no matter what restaurant you work at. Yah, Country Store stays in business from the large crowds of oil workers who eat and drink here, and the staff could care less about anyone else. Plan accordingly. Ok, they do also have very tasty enchiladas, and chicken fried potatoes with gravy, good tacos, ribs and steaks, etc. but it is definitely hit or miss. Once again, sometimes with the limited choices in town, you try it once again only to be gut punched by the waitstaff.
Food was amazing service was even better!!! Highly recommendFood: 5/5
Ordered the chicken fried steak. It was mostly breading and the actual piece of meat was as thick as a slice of cheese and was over cooked. Green beans had no flavor. Had to ask for silverware multiple times. Would not recommended
