Rutherford Food Pantry Mission Statement:
The Rutherford Community (Food) Pantry, Inc. is a volunteer non-profit organization which meets emergency and ongoing needs of food and personal hygiene items for citizens of Rutherford, members of Rutherford’s Religious Institutions, and others who are referred by an approved agency.
The Food Pantry is a joint effort of community faith congregations, organizations, and concerned citizens. We appreciate and need your support!
History
Late in January 1998, leaders in Rutherford began to examine what could be done to better care for those in our community who were in need of the basic necessities of life. The urgency for a centralized pantry in our community with easy access and set hours of operation was considered to be the best way to benefit those in need of assistance. Because of this shared vision and concern of the Rutherford clergy, the Social Services Department, and other Rutherford Community organizations, we are grateful that the Rutherford Community (Food) Pantry became a reality.
Food Pantry Clients:
Referred Rutherford residents are allowed to pick up items twice a month during hours of operation. One bag of items per household member will be supplied per visit.
During 2012, the Rutherford Food Pantry served 157 households consisting of 342 individuals. There were 1,768 visits, and 4,081 bags distributed.
