On November 13th, 2009, Ryan Thomas Roofner passed away after getting into a car accident. He touched the hearts of many people in life and is missed dearly by his family and friends. Ryan was born on March 16th, 1988.
Saying that Ryan liked to skate a lot is quite an understatement. Ryan wanted to skate all the time. We would receive a text message or phone call saying "skate" daily. Ryan was the lifeblood of the Owego skatepark. It is people like him who made the Owego park worth going to. This is why we've dedicated the park to his memory.
The Ryan Roofner Memorial Skatepark is located at Marvin Park in Owego, NY. Our annual Skate4Ryan competition brings the skateboarding community together to honor him with a game of S.K.A.T.E. tournament. Skateboarders compete to win the grand prize of a complete skateboard and runner-up prizes. This event helps us bring in donations from fellow skateboarders and people in the community for our D.I.Y. concrete projects at the park.
Please "LIKE" our page to stay updated with our progress. We hope to keep the inspiration Ryan sparked in a small town going and let his memory live on for future skateboarders at the park.
