We played RYBA baseball here for a few years then got fed up with the internal politics and like of support from Rockdale County which provides zero funds for this facility which is why it is so run down. The fields are in terrible shape, the parking lot needs work and hardly any of the scoreboards work. If you're thinking of playing a tournament here - move along. The fields are decent enough to practice on but you'll need to find all the holes in the outfield first.
Organization is poorly organized. There aren't even tryouts - they just select names from a "hat" to form the teams. Fields are in horrible condition. Women's kickball league seems to take priority over the baseball teams getting the fields first for practice. You get nothing for the money spent and the boys certainly are not getting much of anything out of being in this league. Go to Newton county for a better program where kids actually learn the game.
First of all, I had to choose ONE star or else I could not post my comment. This organization is a ZERO star. It's a shame how poorly the CHILDREN of Rockdale County are treated by this jacka$$ organization. Coaches who openly berate and have crybaby meltdowns because they have to follow rules, parents who make fun of kids who are struggling, holes 4-6" deep at home plate and on the pitcher's mound. We were fortunate to have a good man for our coach. But every game we had to listen to the other coaches cry, moan, complain, talk about our boys, tell their boys to lean into a pitch to get hit, etc. This place is a joke. No lights at night for the older boys, even though we paid our money, too. Thus, games cut short, rain games not made up. Championship game called way before dusk. Never any concessions. It's a freak show. Still no trophies or even the team photos that we PAID FOR. Now I understand why fewer people want to play ball here. Rockdale County should be ashamed.
Things are so disorganized and the younger kids just get stuck with whoever volunteers. My son played t ball and I was so disenchanted with games and the fact that the kids didn't look like a team. It looked like practice in the middle of a game.
Much improved since being taken over by Johnson Park!
Unfortunately, the only gig in town. Poorly organized.
