My son spent ten years at Ryokubi Dojo learning the art of authentic Shotokan karate and so much more discipline, respect, kindness, altruism, self-respect, honesty, self-pride for one's accomplishments, healthy habits with Sensei JoJo and Sensei Mikiko. Things were hard: You had to get there on time. You had to EARN your belts. You had to respect your teachers and your fellow students during class and keep focused. But not once during those long years did we consider the dojo just "a place to keep him busy and fit". It was family. It was a community of like-minded people. And as "scary" as Sensei JoJo seemed at times, he never showed our son or us anything but genuine kindness and respect. When years later my son's little sister turned five and declared she wanted to be a "Tiger Cub", I never considered another dojo, and now we're back for another round! :
Ive went for years! I absolutely loved it and would go back in a heart beat! Both Sensei Jo-Jo and Sensei Mikiko both take the time with they're student and build a bond that can never be broken! Their Dojo is more than just a work space, its a safe haven for learning and growing!
I L O V E that place!!!!
