Saint Mother Theodore Guerin and the Sisters of Providence founded the College in 1840. For nearly 175 years, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College has empowered students to think critically, engage in lifelong leadership and effect positive change in a spirit of service and social responsibility. Our philosophy stresses an exploration of spirituality, a respect for diversity and a passion for unity of faith and reason.
