Young girl in front very helpful. Gown section was awful. I figured nice name maybe good gowns no if u need fancy don't waste ur walk.
Great deals on brand name clothing. The only reason it is 5 stars is the staff headcount is extremely low and impacts service.
4/16 update. Please correct your sign for the hours. You open at 11am and your sign says 10am on Sundays. Had to walk around for an hour. Lots of nice things and great sales
Loved this store. Had a few great deals. Felt like someone was planning on robbing ys in the parking lot around the back on the end. We got out of there so fast we almost collided with the 3rd person they called. They opened my eyes to how dangerous these parking lots are and why it's necessary to park in a crowded area as opposed to shaded and secluded. No affect on the store but I'm just saying.
Earlier tonight, I went to the Tanger Outlets in North Charleston to shop for a couple of things. I walked into Saks Off 5th to look around and was carrying two bags with me; 1 a garment bag carrying a new coat I bought earlier & 2 a small bag carrying a couple of winter hats. While shopping in the men’s clothing section, I noticed an older woman come over who I saw at the register when I walked in and start to watch me closely while she pretended to sort clothes. I spent about 10 minutes looking through mens’ sweatshirts and sweaters to try to find one or two that I liked in my size. Not once did the woman who worked there ask me if I needed any help finding a size or item — all while pretending to sort shirts on one of the carousel racks closest to the section I was shopping in. After not having any luck, I decided to go look for new winter boots in the far back corner of the store. While trying on some boots i noticed a second employee younger woman with a headset come over and pretend to sort clothes on a separate carousel rack near where I was standing. She also stared at me for a while without asking once if i needed help. She stayed there until the older woman came over to her and started to “sort” the same exact shirts the younger employee just spent 5 minutes doing. Once again the older woman watched me while I tried on different pairs of boots. I found a pair of Sorel boots that I really liked — but ended up deciding not to get them after looking online and seeing I could get them elsewhere for only $40 - $50 more. The reason it wasn’t worth me getting them was because of how uncomfortable the 2 employees made me feel, especially the older woman. I felt like I was being followed and watched the entire time I was in there shopping at Saks Off 5th. I didn’t come in looking for anything specific and may have appeared to be walking around aimlessly — but I was also walking around carrying a garment bag holding a new $400 winter jacket while wearing brand new sneakers that were recently released by New Balance and Miami based designer Stray Rats and now retail for 3-5x aftermarket after selling out in less than a day on the New Balance website. Should what I was wearing for sneakers or what I was carrying for shopping bags matter in how I was treated by Saks employees? Probably not. However, if the employees at that store were that paranoid about me looking around the store, then I could only imagine how they treat others who shop there. At no point during the 20-25 minutes I was in there was I asked if I needed help. It wasn’t until I was walking out of the store with my friend who did buy something that the older woman who had been following me around ran up to me near the exit to ask if I wanted help with anything while proceeding to look in my bags to see if I had stolen anything. I asked her what she was doing and if she had thought I stolen something. She appeared to get offended by my question and said “I never accused you of stealing” as she walked away and back towards the register. While I know Saks Off 5th is an outlet location and not nearly on the same level as the regular Saks, I still wouldn’t expect the Saks brand to hire second or third rate employees who would rather focus on trying to catch a “shoplifter” than trying to make an easy sale. The 30% discount off clothes at Saks Off 5th is not worth the 70-90% discounted experience. I would suggest to management that they look to hire new employees who represent the Saks brand, whether it is an outlet location or not. As far as the woman working there tonight, I’m sure there are plenty of movie theaters that would love to have her as an employee to follow around moviegoers as they stand in the popcorn and refreshments line to make sure they aren’t sneaking in any candy or snacks bought at a CVS or Publix before. I have bought a lot of clothes at this location the past few years and do usually find some great deals. Unfortunately, I am not sure I will go back there for a while, if I ever do. It was that bad .
Went into the store to look for some black work pants. I was in the fitting room, when one of the sales associates a tall woman with dark hair opened the door while I was in just my bra. I immediately thought it was a mistake, and said “it’s ok!”, expecting her to close the door. She stood at the wide open dressing room door and LAUGHED while explaining while she opened the door in the first place. I kept saying “it’s ok, it’s ok” trying to get her to close the door. Eventually, she did. When I went to check out, an elderly woman who was the cashier took a while to look up from her phone at me. After she checked me out, I went to find my boyfriend who was in the back corner looking at men’s shoes. He decided not to purchase any and we left to walk out the door. It was then that the cashier took a beeline over to him, and looking inside his shopping bags, asked if he needed help. He said “No, I’m fine. Thanks.” And she continued to push herself near him as if he had stolen merchandise in his bags. He opened the bags as we were walking toward the door to show her there were no Saks merchandise, and she still spoke in a rude tone until we were out the door. For whatever reason, she was questioning us even though we were carrying J.Crew shopping bags, wearing $500 sneakers, and had just paid for a sweater with a black card. Maybe one day Saks will hire considerate employees instead of old women who take a job they hate just to get some time away from their boring husbands.
This store has been nicer in the past but didn't have the same appeal during my latest visit. The store was extremely dark and took my eyes to adjust quite a bit and it wasn't a bright day. The shoe department had only a few boots which was surprising given that it was December when I visited. In season jackets were tucked on a back wall with clearance in front of it so it was somewhat difficult to find. I saw one person working a register while wandering the store but wasn't able to spot anyone else to help show me some jewelry in the cases.
Best store in town when trying to find mens style at an affordable price. Always new stuff and designers but my favorite is their shoe selection. Recommend for those guys that want something different then J crew - banana republic type of outfits.
If they have what your looking for in the right size it is well worth it.
Very disappointed. Went there today 02/08/23 & the store looked like it was going out of business. Very little inventory on the men's side. Fair amount of goods on the ladies side.
