Hospital was okay. Went into the main entrance, where they make you mask-up and ask you where your going. There is security guard at the entrance also. Every time I have been here, the parking situation is terrible, you have to park so far away. Unless you are handicapped, but even then the spots are usually filled up very quickly. There are vending machines near emergency room which is nice. The wait is usually a good wait. Wouldn’t go back unless had to.
There’s never a good trip to Salem Hospital. The nurses are rude. Remind me when watch a Movies hospital prison treat you like you you’re in prison., you know I pay for my insurance every month it’s still a customer service business Salem Hospital doesn’t get that , mother Theresa could go to Salem hospitals, emergency room and leave very angry. That’s how bad they are.
Compared to the ER in Canada this place is next level. My daughter of 1 Year old was crying non-stop and clearly something was wrong. To the hospital we went! in and out in 45 minutes... I still can't believe it. In Quebec we would still be there waiting.
This hospital needs a federal and RedCross intervention. The doctors are trying hard to provide top care for all patients. However, The wait is ridiculously long , the waiting room is full of very sick patients waiting to be admitted. They may not be as sick as they come but they will be sicker for sure at the end of their long journey. No cleanliness of any sort, no adequate staff , no adequate care. No foreseeable improvement.
I recently had an AWFUL experience with Salem's ER staff. I had been told at 2 a.m. that I was being admitted, which was appropriate given how I presented. While waiting to go up to a floor, an elderly patient had gotten herself to the bathroom closest to the nursing station, but was yelling for help. My room was directly across from nurse's station, and as I listened to their gossiping and water cooler banter, 3 nurses present the older woman is still yelling for help. Now, I too started yelling and pressing my button but strangely even though I could hear every single word of their conversation, they were "unable" to hear my screaming that someone in the bathroom needed help NOW. Finally, a tech walks by nurses still chatting it up and helps the lady in bathroom. This was the beginning of a horror show too long to describe here. Go to Beverly if looking for care on North Shore.
Very very bad experience is worse Hospital in Salem. Please don’t go there is horrible waste time for anyone. Emergency room is the worse in MA and smells like pee. They don’t care about patients or anything medical issues. Only care about take the insurance payments be careful. Plus you be waiting for long time more the 8 hours seating in waiting room and they don’t care about anything pain for any patients.
OKAY, SO After reading some reviews a lot are ridiculous and have nothing to so with this place’s Abilities I’ve HAVE BEEN to Salem Hospital Multiple Times, NOT THROUGH THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT as I read about a “Horror” show. OTHER THAN THAT, I’m new to the North Shore, Originally from Boston. So I’ve switched to the MGH North Shore Physicians Group, They Are Great TRULEY, with many locations around the north shore. And they have used Salem Hospital for my recent Surgery procedures. My First I had an endoscopy of my esophagus and stomach under anesthesia. That went well, but after they are STICKLERS in making sure you’re picked up and have an escort home! There’s no ordering an UBER IF YOUR ALONE & Surprisingly NOT EVEN A MEDICAL RIDE can pick you up if you’re alone! So that was a pain, but I’m sure they have great reasons. My second surgery, 3 weeks ago was a “Robotic TARUP Surgery” for Umbilical Hernia. It’s pretty amazing how they were able to do this as a minimally invasive surgery leaving me with just 2 tiny slits on my abdomen that have already started to disappear! I’ve watched the surgery on YouTube, they blow up your abdomen and basically robotically do the survey inside you Without Having to open you up to what could be a bigger risk for infection, healing, PAIN, Recovery Time, As Well as a MUCH BIGGER SCAR ON/ACROSS YOUR ABDOMEN, I’ve had this surgery at BMC for my gallbladder as well. It’s pretty amazing! Regardless, THE STAFF PRE SURGERY WERE GREAT, SERIOUSLY I HAVE NOT 1 COMPLAINT! POST-SURGERY WAS EVEN BETTER! I forget my nurse's name Sorry because HE WAS ON HIS JOB LIKE WHITE ON RICE! While also dealing with a rowdy patient next to me, he was very helpful and took THE TIME TO EXPLAIN EVERYTHING TO ME & ALL MY QUESTIONS WERE ANSWERED! I Really DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING BAD TO SAY FROM MY EXPERIENCES IN THERE SURGERY DEPARTMENT TWICE OVER THIS PAST SUMMER 2023. I know the hospital is undergoing a HUGE MAKEOVER as they are Now Part of MGH/Brigham so I do hope that the nightmares being reported in their Emergency department are taken care of with the new construction. Because this is the closest Hospital to me, I will probably stay away from the emergency department until I hear better things, but everything else seems to be on point! I wouldn’t Go to deep on the reviews and blame the whole place for a few bad apple or 1 bad department.
"Hello, I recently had an unfortunate experience at Salam Hospital's Emergency Room. I have been waiting for my lab results for a prolonged period of 9 hours without any updates. The behavior of some of the nurses has been extremely unprofessional and lacking empathy. For instance, during the removal of my IV, one nurse handled it roughly, causing me to bleed in the hallway. Even the staff at the front desk noticed the blood on my clothes and arm and seemed shocked by the severity of the situation. It's disheartening to feel that the care provided by some nurses at the hospital could potentially jeopardize a patient's well-being." Well said by Mark T" mother Theresa could go to Salem hospitals, emergency room and leave very angry. That’s how bad they.
Everytime I come here the wait is extremely long and they do not know how too prioritize the patients . They have left me over 4 hours knowing I have an infection in my knee I need X-rays and they haven't done nothing too resolve this .. I'm sorry but this is what hospitals are for if ur sick stay home most of the cases u don't need a doctor for a cold .. but yet these people still come here and take up way too much time and resources for just having a cold . Someone like me with an infection and still havent been seen this is ridiculous.. and the wait times here STAY FAR AWAY FROM HERE .. we need more hospitals in the area
If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I came in on Sunday with an injury ankle, on a wheelchair, crying in pain. I was left in the waiting room for 4 hours and whenever I asked the front desk when I would be seen, with tears in my eyes, they would say I was fourth in list, as multiple people came hours after me, and still go seen. When I could no longer hold in the pain and went for a final time to the front desk and asked when I would be next, they said it’s all about priority and I wasn’t priority to them, as I was in a wheelchair, unable to walk, crying in pain. I had to leave the hospital and head to another emergency because they clearly didn’t care enough. Meanwhile they picked and chose who would be seen. Everyone deserves medical care.
