Jesus Garcia Resendiz has 30+ years of dancing experience and enjoys teaching Salsa, Guaracha, Cha Cha Cha, Bachata, and Cumbia to all ages.
Jesus Garcia Resendiz is from Mexico City and has been dancing for over 30 years. He has been living in Santa Barbara for the last 14 years dancing and performing in the local salsa clubs as “Salsa Elegante”. In 2011 Jesus became recognized when he won the Salsa Championship at Borderline and now teaches private and group salsa classes in Santa Barbara and performs regularly with his wife and partner, Ashley Garcia. Jesus is also a specialist in Guaracha, dancing to the music of Sonidero from Mexico. Jesus has the ability to take many styles of dance, including Bachata, Tango, Cha Cha Cha, Salsa, and Guaracha, and blend them into exciting routines with tricks and lifts that captivate his audience and that keep him in constant demand for show requests in the 805’s salsa dancing community. As an instructor, Jesus has patience for the beginning dancer and a natural desire to use his talent to give back to the community.
Participants will learn basic and intermediate footwork, technique, timing, and partnering skills in a relaxed and friendly environment. Jesus and Ashley use non-verbal cueing, verbal explanation, and return demonstration of dance moves to assist participant’s individual learning styles. Participants will learn dance technique for both the leader and follower, and basic ladies’ styling, body motion, and dance etiquette. Together, Jesus and Ashley give a dynamic class together, using each other’s strengths to make their classes educational and fun. Participants can expect to dance in their first class! Classes are often taught in Spanish and English, depending on student's needs.
Salsa Elegante empowers participants though dance by promoting self esteem and enhancing a community spirit by participating in events and charities. Salsa Elegante supports the local 805 Latin Dance Community and Santa Barbara Dance Arts.
