Library looks great, inside and out. Recommend reserving your items - it has high traffic and, in my experience, many items are checked out already. Drop-off book return is very easy to go through and be back on your way. Self checkout stations available. The inside has great lighting for reading.
The Draper Library, part of the Salt Lake County Library system, is one of the most professionally run organizations. I really appreciate how nice, pleasant and positive the staff is at all times. The staff is helpful on the phone as well as in person. What a great experience I have every time I go in person or call to ask a question.
The location is great the furniture is much more comfy to study at than the Sandy location, but there isn’t a lot of it so if you get there and there are already 4 people studying, you are out of luck if you needed a table large enough for a notebook and a laptop. Additionally, I think draper moms go to this location most and use it as a playground. They let their children scream and shout and run about. I can hear it through my noise canceling head phones clear as day. The librarians do nothing about it. It would be nice to see more seating with larger tables. It would also be great if the Liberians would ask the children or parents to enforce inside voices and feet.
The Draper library isn't one of your old-school libraries housing tight, narrow rows of books and boring colorless architecture. The Draper library is a stunning achievement of architectural beauty and pragmatic library layout design. As one combs through the well-spaced book shelves finding that perfect read, a glance skyward rewards the peruser with massive circular lights of white and blue that resemble the ideal summer day. The lights hang down from the ultra-high ceiling, seemingly unconnected to anything except the fertile mind of the dreamer-reader whose life is not anchored but freed from all cares and concerns. The library is ensconced right in the beautiful historic part of Draper and there is a senior citizens acitivity center on the same property as well as the Draper Chamber of Commerce. The staff really places emphasis on themes. So each week near the entrance you can see a highlighted section on cooking, religion, teen fantasy etc. that has a variety of books to choose from within the topic chosen. They also have a meeting room that people or groups can schedule out for privacy and there is no charge just a requested courtesy reservation for the individuals who need the space. My other favorite aspect about the library is that it is right next to the Draper Park and has a vast array of sparkling Christmas lights during the holiday season and the park lights up so beautifully with the variety of colors. One can check out a book and walk across to the park and relax and enjoy leisure of reading something worthy while enjoying the lovely park surrounding. Many geese fly overhead and the occasional whine of a small engine plane makes the appeal of the Draper library and its adjacent attractions an ideal choice for the intellectual and creatively driven person to enjoy a occasional respite from daily life.
I visited today after years of never getting around to going to libraries, and i am obsessed now! This place had such a nice aesthetic and vibe to it, everyone was friendly, and they had such a great selection of things to borrow! I found myself walking away with far more than intended hahaha! They also have many free programs for all ages that are genuinely fun! I was surprised. I love boba and saw a cute diy bubble tea set for teens. i've been stressed out recently and this honestly made my whole week! man, libraries are so cool!
Awesome library with awesome people! We utah drone racing use this library for racing tiny drones inside. Very happy they are nice enough to let us do it. Here is a pic!
One of my favorite places to get books for my toddler. Since he loves books and we read 4-5 each evening it makes no sense to buy them. It's easy to find books and you can do the check out yourself easily. The place is neat and is next to a park with large windows. Unfortunately they don't have the little play space for kids due to Covid.
They have many wonderful programs for children. The holds are right at the front of the library, across from the desk where you check out books so it's easy to grab and go. And the librarians are friendly and awesome people.
Very friendly. My printer took a dump on me today. Lol. Uggh. So for 10 cents each I can print labels in 5 minutes. Very helpful for business purposes.
