Five years after opening their first restaurant, house. wine. & bistro., Larry and Jessica Delgado have continued their commitment to propelling McAllen’s culinary diversity with their second restaurant, SALT - New American Table.
Located in the heart of the city’s art district, SALT’s concept is based on a platform where cultural cuisine meets regional sourcing. The menu, which changes seasonally, features organic, sustainable, and when available, local ingredients. Diners are invited to enjoy dinner on the patio, in the dining room, or at the chef’s bar, an exhibition kitchen where one can watch the chef’s do what they do best. The drink list offers a variety of high end spirits, house made cocktails with fresh squeezed juices and infused salts, craft beer, and boutique wines.
If one were to ask Larry how he came up with the name, he would tell you salt is the one ingredient found in every kitchen. But the pictures on the walls of Sal Del Rey, a local nature preserve, down to the variety of salts placed throughout the tables, tell us that salt is so much more. It pays homage to a history we all share and it provides guidance on the culinary journey patrons embark upon when they take a seat at a table. It brings good luck, good food, and season’s life in all the best of ways.
