Absolutely great restaurant!!! Excellent service, and the environment is Great. Yesterday my buddies and I decided to visit the beach and after have dinner so I looked up popular restaurants In half moon bay and Sam's chowder house caught my eyes. We arrived around 6 o'clock pm, the parking lot was full and the dinner rush began, are waiting time was about 20 minutes. Once we were seated I ordered the New England clam chowder and the crispy fried shrimp roll. I really liked the clam chowder so yummy and chunky. The shrimp roll was delicious, it also came with a side of potato chips and spicy coleslaw. I recommend trying this meal. My meal came up to 36$ and well worth it. Are waiter named Kevin was very helpful and nice, thank you. Excellent restaurant and service, I definitely will be back!!!
I can’t say enough good things about Sam’s Chowder House. We’ve been coming here for years and everything is consistently fresh and delicious. This trip we shared a large bowl of clam chowder and had lots left over to bring home. We also had spicy shrimp, oysters, shrimp cocktail, and a lobster roll. The clam show der was super creamy and loaded with clams. The oysters and shrimp cocktail were so fresh. The fried spicy shrimp was light and crunchy and the lobster roll was huge! And the bread they put on the table is to die for. We arrived at 11:35 when it opened and it was already packed. Go early to grab the best seat! Sam’s is a must try.
Such a delish place to stop and eat at. You can enjoy the amazing view of the sea while sipping on your favorite cocktail. MUST try the clam chowder. Food is FRESH and very flavorful! There may be a wait outside, but it’s worth every second. Staff is very nice and speedy. Our server was very very kind and talkative without losing focus on what people he was serving. Very talented man.
Great place to eat and enjoy the beach!! The staff was so nice, some of the most polite people I have ever encountered at a restaurant. I suggest the crab sandwich or the lobster roll!! We skipped the line and opted to eat at the outside bar and it was very comfortable. Very sunny so don't forget your sunglasses.Food: 5/5
The place is a great location, amazing views, and ambience. We were hiking nearby with our dog so looked up local places to eat around dinner time. It was pretty packed around 6:30 and there were a few people waiting for a table. Since we had our dog with us, they let us be seated on the outside heated porch where pets are allowed. Inside seemed like a great vibe with a lot of families and live music. Jesus was our server- really chill and courteous guy. He took his time to explain the specials and recommendations. Service was quick as well. Now, the food was fairly average. For a chowder house, chowder could be a lot better. Both my partner and I had the New England chowder and we felt gassy and bloated the entire evening. Rest of the food was good. I had the fish special and we finished with the chocolate dessert. I feel they could do better with the food for the prices. The views are very nice though.
Beautiful location with an amazing ocean view and outdoor seating. But the view is all this place has going for it. Service was very slow, we waited 20 minutes for them to bring 3 bowls of the premade chowder out. Also got fries that came out cold, took 10 minutes to get those replaced. Chowder tasted just as good as a can you buy at the store, no chunks of crab or seafood - just generic food. Very overpriced. You can do much better by visiting one of the great restaurants in Princeton just around the corner.
Nice local restaurant found randomly when driving through the area. Inside and outside seating, tasteful decor and more importantly tasty food. The lobster and squid we're fantastic. Staff were really friendly. Recommended.Food: 5/5
Overall, the food and service are nice here. The seafood is fresh and delicious. New England chowder is a good choice if it’s your first time here. New Orleans style Gumbo with a tomato based broth and little crab pieces inside is good too! Highly recommend. Food: 5/5
Place was very busy but we were sat right away in outside seating area. We didn't mind since they have heaters out there and we had a view of water. Food didn't take long either. Clam chowder wasn't thick but it was described like that in menu. It was still good. Fish n chips were very good. Hamburger was ordered well done but was brought out rare but a waiter quickly took it back and a new one was brought out as had been ordered. That was the only flaw during this visit. Our waitress was apologetic and couldn't get why it wasn't cooked as ordered. Big portions of fries and shrimp roll was good as well. Fresh seafood and quick friendly service.
This the first clam chowder that I had tasted the saltiness was perfect, the lobster roll dressed lobster meat was double amount compared to other place, right amount of sauce and flavor. As for the blue crab sandwich love the flavor but somehow the burger bread damage the taste meaning you can’t feel the crab texture but you know there is crab inside, next time I will ask not bread, so will feel you are eating crab. Overall this is really good food
