I want to say that the workers that help with getting people benefits are awesome. Ms. Jessica and the worker next to her with the red bob hairdo were a hoot. They kept my husband and I rolling. My husband is in hospice and it was good to see him laugh. We need more people like that in this world. Beautiful personalities. I want to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all your help. Be Blessed!
Excellent experience, we come at work one/twice a year, and we always have so much fun. It never disappoints ,they put music, clean bathrooms, water, the locations is centric. The staff is super friendly. It easy to drive, plenty of parking, it feels good to give to those in need!!!
The class they offer are genuinely not for your benefit but for the donations.they really do not care about your well being only making sure they receive the big donations. If you need food yes they do provide that. It's the programs they have that are highly messed up and they could really careless about you. I would go into details if anyone is interested in their classes there's better programs my advice is to go elsewhere.
I have volunteered here regularly for years. Their cause and impact are absolutely necessary for South Texas! If you have the time please consider providing support to this amazing organization.
Volunteered in the kitchen and curbside today. What a way to give back, lots of smiles along with good music. Looking forward to the next time.
Went to the food drive a few weeks ago and my children and I became very sick after eating the nectarines we were given. We were placed on antibiotics to treat a bacteria in our stomach that caused severe diarrhea and stomach pains. My son has it the worse because he ate the most nectarines. He has been to the ER four times and is going to need a colonoscopy to see the extent of the intestinal swelling. He lost 15 lbs and cannot eat anything. Do you all even examine the food? Most of it is expired.
The food bank will leave anyone high and dry without transportation. I am disabled and cannot take a distribution home on the bus. When I first called they pretty much told me to figure it out. So I got a friend with a car to get a distribution for me at the last min. The first place turned her away because I didn’t have an appointment. They were 20 min to close and had so much food thst some was on the ground. They were not nice about turning her away and offered no suggestions. The second place was apologetic and only had a loaf of bread, 6 turnips, and 200 limes to offer. I have had nothing since Saturday. When I called today I was told basically the same thing but to leave a message for the supervisor who would call me back, but hasn’t. They don’t care. I’m literally starving. I’m on disability at 1500 a month and even at thst usually make it work. But due to being robbed while trying to get back to work, it made expenses I couldn’t avoid which had affected my food. But with all the help they get, they just let ppl like me starve because we don’t matter.
Very fun and even a little time can help lots of people. This is a good way to get community service hours for NHS or college. You never have the same experience. You have many options to volunteer like in the kitchen, the garden, and sorting many items.
Awesome place to volunteer and make a difference in the lives of the local community. I have volunteered here at the warehouse and the garden. I really enjoyed the educational aspects of the garden center, I learned how to plant and grow potatoes! LOL overall, great place to volunteer.
My church group and I got a chance to help make over 13000 meals in about a 3 hour time frame. They have the pallets, food, boxes, and more! The place was clean and well laid out. The group leaders were very nice and respectful. I'm thankful for the opportunity and encourage others to go individually or as a group!
