I enjoy coming to E.P. Foster Library. It’s got everything I need for me to be able to handle all kinds of day-to-day business: - Computer workstations - Internet access - Desks / workstations for non-computer, offline needs - Restrooms - Close to all kinds of shops and dining options - Close to the beach walking distance Today I picked up my Chromebook loaner, courtesy of the Ventura County Library Computer Kits Lending Program. Super helpful in keeping me digitally connected. Long live public libraries!
Nice, but usually full of vagrants. Only vistors w/ children are allowed on the second floor. Some moody staff members.
Loved it. Very quite. Lots of books. Little trouble with security guards but overall a great library. Thank you, for opening your doors to me.
Last Saturday I received a “collection notice” which I thought it was a scam. It read I owed 82.00 without any specifics. I took it to the library to report as a “scam” in case other patrons would received it. It turned out it was legitimate. I had checked out magazines back in October and according to the librarian in charge I had not returned them. Which I certainly did before they were due! I even found some on the shelf. After the clarification she proceed to withdraw the charges. I asked how this happen without any kind of notice sent by them for last summer magazines. She responded “ the system is set that way” I replied, “ someone needs to be accountable.” I consider a collection notice a serious issue. Will never again will take out books/magazines from this library. I will go to the Camarillo Library if that is the way they treat the tax payers who sponsor this library.
I love this library so very much but it has been very cut back since the pandemic. It is rebuilding and is still a great place and a great treasure to take my grandchildren to find amazing books to read and to find books to read to them. I love the educational packets with crafts and games that are free for my grandchildren and helped us so much during the pandemic to get through. When I am visiting the library, I also feel so fortunate to be served by the many talented and kind people who work here. This is the library where I checked out books that taught my four grandchildren how to read. This is the library that put on a series of special shows to motivate and reward great readers. This is the library where my oldest grandson read his stories to several different dogs in PAWS for reading on many different Saturday mornings, which helped make him a stronger more independent reader. This is the library that had amazing summer reading contests to try to motivate better fluency, using lots of donated with lots of prizes. This is the library that used to have all kinds of educational toys to play with and videos to check out. We are so blessed that we still have it here operating on what appears to be a shoestring budget where it deserves many times the funding and a whole new building for all the wonderful things they do for our community and our children!
This is the worst library I have ever been to. Only one study room, one restroom for the whole library, librarians are wildly unhelpful couldn’t even tell me the wifi password and we’re so rude.
Large library with a great bookstore too! Nice! A favorite stop when we visit Ventura.
Main library downtown. Good wifi and lots of tables to sit at. Noticed a lot of computers to use if u don't have a laptop. Went there early on a weekday, not to busy. The library is located on Main st, so now it's blocked off by pedestrian corridor. But there is plenty free parking lots through out the area.
What a pleasure. If you enter the children's side from the back, there's a marvelous mural with many mysteries set within folktales for kids to decipher and enjoy. Cinderella's slipper has been abandoned there, King Arthur's sword is still in the stone. There are great play spaces in the children's area so that younger ones can play while grown-ups pick out books. Self check-out is a breeze. Staff is sweet and helpful. What's wonderful about this library is that the core collection is carefully curated, you can hardly go wrong. It's grouped by age. If you can get a library card, you also get access to online books for kids and adults. Also, some online video material, all free. Further, for people who do not qualify for a library card, there are books donated to check out on the honor system. It's just so thoughtfully planned out. Well done, Foster Library.
A hidden gem on Main Street with nice computers and children floor as well. A great place to study and do some scholarly research. It lacks some effective air-conditioning and fundingperhaps.
