The San Diego Backcountry Visitors Bureau (SDBVB) was founded in 2016 as a community led initiative. We are a non-profit 501c6 dedicated to sustainable development, preserving our backcountry heritage & promoting the growth of responsible tourism.
We advocate for the voices of the backcountry communities & ensuring a balance between conservation & tourism growth. We were founded in 2016 as a result of the many challenges facing our rural communities in the backcountry.
Our mission is to raise public awareness towards the importance of this region's bio-diversity & heritage & how it directly correlates with our tourism based economy. We’re dedicated to improving tourism standards & encouraging sustainable tourism models, which conform to our community character.
We use various approaches to achieve our goals including:
