SFWPC works to engage women in all dimensions of the political process. We are committed to elevating women into positions of leadership including elected office, boards, commissions and management positions. We are politically active and engaged through female and male candidate endorsements, initiative endorsements and presenting the only woman’s slate card in San Francisco. We actively advocate for policy improvements that support our bottomline issues – empowering women, girls and community. We are leading the sustainability of the women’s movement in San Francisco by convening the Annual San Francisco Women’s Policy Summit, hosting networking events and striving to cultivate partnerships with other women’s organizations. We also host some excellent parties throughout the year.
Most of all, we seek to elevate the political conversation toward issues important to equality and gender parity. Women make up over half of society and thus, women must be equal partners in all areas of the political process.
SFWPC is multi-party, general purpose committee run by a volunteer Board of Directors that meets every month.
Get involved! Join a committee! In addition to attending great networking events, staying current on women’s issues in San Francisco by getting the newsletter and participating in the endorsement process, members can join committees. Each committee generally meets once a month for two to three hours. Anyone can join a committee as long as they are in good standing and there is room on the committee. (NOTE: The Endorsements Committee has a more rigorous schedule and members must have attended three events prior to the first meeting to be eligible to serve.)
If you would like to join a committee, please email your resume and indicate which committee you would like to help out with to SFWPC Member Outreach/Special Projects Chair Ellen Hong at [email protected]. 2009 Committees are: Programs, Endorsements, Fundraising and Policy.
