Title: Rapid Decline: The San Juan Motel & Cabins Rating: 1 out of 5 stars I recently had the unfortunate experience of staying at the San Juan Motel & Cabins, a property that has, sadly, seen a rapid decline over the past couple of years. This decline in quality is starkly evident in various aspects of the motel, with room conditions, furnishings, and services deteriorating to a point where they are now utterly subpar. Upon entering our room, the first thing that struck us was the overall unkempt condition. The room was not properly maintained or cleaned, which immediately set a distressing tone for our stay. Various facilities within the room were also non-functional. Lights that did not work posed not only an inconvenience but also a safety concern, especially during the night. The furnishings within the room did not fare much better. They were visibly aged, worn-out, and uncomfortable, making our stay far less comfortable than it should have been. It is clear that the management has not invested in their upkeep or replacement, which is disappointing, especially considering the motel's previously decent reputation. Moreover, the quality of bath linen provided was deeply dissatisfying. It was evident that they were well past their prime, threadbare and lacking in the cleanliness one would expect from an accommodation provider. The overall ambiance of the San Juan Motel & Cabins now leaves much to be desired. The neglected state of the premises is a stark departure from its past charm and attractiveness. The premises, which were once inviting, now feel undesirable and uninviting. Regrettably, I cannot recommend the San Juan Motel & Cabins in its current state. The evident neglect and deterioration have caused it to lose the appeal it once had. It is deeply disheartening to see such a property fall into such a state of disrepair, and I can only hope the management will take action to rectify these issues in the future. Until then, I would advise potential guests to consider other accommodations in the area.
he bathroom was falling apart. Tiles coming up and super dirty. There were gaps between the door and frame so you could feel hot/cold air coming through. We got locked out of our room at 10 pm because the key wasn’t working. The people next to us had the same issue. Whoever owns this motel needs to provide some assistance to the one poor guy doing maintenance, front desk, etc. definitely not fair to him to have to deal with everything alone.
This is a dingy roadside motel. It could be so much better if it was just clean. We ended up wiping down the floor with Clorox wipes before putting our toddler's blow up mattress on the floor. It was tight, there was barely room for that. The bed and pillows sucked. The breakfast was poor quality. We ended up mostly taking oatmeal packets and peanut butter and jelly packets. The fruit was rotten. The first night was ok because nobody was in the rooms next to us, but the second night we got the pleasure of hearing a loud argument of a couple through the wall and then the makeup activities afterwards Walls: These babies are thin. You can also hear the traffic all night long of semi trucks driving through town. One good thing is it's close to the river and it is close to the little Saturday market where we got the best food we ate in Pagosa - a BBQ food truck. The Mexican restaurant across the street was meh and the restaurant we tried across the river was the same. Both overpriced and mediocre.
Please just do yourself a favor and pay a little extra to stay elsewhere if you can afford to do so. Our room here was the worst part of our Pagosa Springs trip. Beds uncomfortably bad, tv didn’t work, shower backed up, old coffee still in the coffee pot, no AC, even our room key had issues. Spending $120 on a room you expect way better.
Well I was looking for a place to stay and this was amazing because Nalaa beautiful smiled to me since she saw me. They gave me a good room with an amazing view and the price was so cheap. Definitely I strongly recommend you to stay here. Rooms: Are huge and the view is awesome. Mattresses are ok And they are clean. Food & drinks: There are many places where you can go and have a great meal
OMG... what can I say about this place? It is the most awesome place I've ever stayed and I travel a whole lot.. The owner and all the staff are remarkable. Super friendly and so helpful. I was stranded there for 4 days during a snow storm and they truly cared for my well being. The room was clean and warm. Everything worked great. Beds are comfy. I would definitely come back and stay for any length of time. Highly recommend this place at anytime of year.
The front desk attendant was excellent. I "upgraded" for a charge to a cabin. She made sure the heat was on before I went. The gas heat went out, and she got someone to come turn it back on. It went out again and I was expecting to move, but it was late, so I told her not to worry about it, I like to sleep cold anyway. She offered extra blankets and to find another electric heater... but I had my own blankets, so that was fine. I slept with a beanie on my head, actually good sleep. The room, besides the heater issue, shower had mold, carpet was very stained, There was a sheer curtain on the front window, which didn't make me feel safe, so I hung a towel over it since I was traveling alone. Blinds were broken at the bottom of the window, so you could see in the room. I blocked as best I could with luggage. Could use an update. I think the price did not fit the accommodations.
Motel wasn't bad but guy checking people in was cussing out old woman cussing about kids and not liking them tried to get my husband to block old woman in says owner doesn't care he's just a myth head I will not ever go back just because of him
Only downside is no air-conditioned on the cabin side but the rooms was are imaculant. Loved the staff lady that works the desk really nice gal.Rooms: 4/5
Staying here was a last minute choice and there were no available hotels. The rate was not bad. When we booked, we were assigned a regular motel room. It had a filthy feel to it but also we knew it had been recently cleaned. The mattress box springs were very old and very dirty. The toilet did not work so we were going to call front desk....no phone. We had to walk to front desk and someone came to fix the toilet. It started to get dark so we closed the dingy curtain and found out the lights were not working. Again, another walk to front desk. We were told that the electric in that room was not properly installed. So, for the inconvenience, we were "upgraded" to a cabin. Great! It was very cold, the electric heater at the base of the flooring was not working properly. I was going to call front desk to see if they could help adjust the temperature, again....NO PHONE!! We didn't bother, we just left the 70's heater on high and it eventually kicked in overnight but it was very minimal heat! We slept in socks and had to keep them on throughout our stay because the floors were freezing. The shower is very small, you literally can not bend down without your cheeks making contact with the stall, the white shower curtain had what looked like blood stains. Their complimentary breakfast was a bunch of Little Debbie's snacks, but the coffee was ok. On the up side the employees were attentive, helpful, and very nice! They tried their best to accommodate us but there's really nothing more the wonderful employees could have done. There was plenty of parking and lots of privacy. Beautiful mountain view. The cabin was stocked with dishes and cooking utensils but we didn't use them. It was walking distance to restaurants and bars and very close to the beautiful river. We had a good time there overall but will not be returning anytime at all. We would go back if the place got a full interior overhaul! And all the appliances were updated. The cabin did have better mattresses and felt cleaner than the motel room. I am leaving 2 stars for the motel/cabin experience but would leave a 5 plus for the atmosphere, location, and employees!!! I hope the owners take into consideration the potential this property has!!!!
