Very quiet, even with the highway so close. We drove our far from the entrance and for a very secluded spot but still near enough to a vault toilet and dumpster. Each site had a pavilion, table, fire pit, and grill. The water is not for swimming in! Would definitely come back here to relax with my favorite people again.
Nice place, nice picnic areas and bathrooms. Big lake but kind of strict when it comes to pulling tubes with jetskis. Water alittle to green but otherwise okay. Had alot of fun anyway. Also they have boat, jetski, kayak, and safety gear rentals.... A+ for that...
I always have a blast whenever I come to O'Neill forebay today I brought my remote control the scenery was good I got there early morning took some pictures and I also caught a couple of catfish it was just catching released today I recommended for the whole family they have picnic areas they have places where you could swim and they also have camping. I believe that you could also hunt here
There are plenty of picnic and camp areas and the whole place is clean and well kept. I'll visit again very soon.
During the summer month this lower lake has more water flow and less stagnant than its upper dam, San Luis Reservoir. The weeds and algae make it harder to fish but if one uses weedless hooks, the fishing action is good around early dawn and evening. Picnic and camping are usually booked during holidays, when the fee increases by $2.00.
Make sure you bring cash to enter. You would think the amount of money they bring in annually from everyone especially boaters they would update their systems to ensure they are always in working order. The first time about two years back I had to drive all the way back into Los Banos to pull out cash because of their cheap card reader not working. However, today I went back and surprise, surprise their cheap card reader still isn’t working!! I waited about 40 minutes because this elderly lady working the booth who acted like she “knew everything” believed she could get it to work which she never did and had to call another worker to get assistance which took another 10 minutes for her to get there. At this point I should have of just drove into town again to pull out cash as it probably would have taken way less time. As for someone who is fishing and wanting to get out on the water as soon as possible to beat the sunrise you can see how annoying this situation this would be. As for the staff their they are a bunch of know it all’s and rude for the most part.
