Eye examinations
Eye examinations are routinely performed to evaluate all aspects of patient vision. It is a common mistake to assume that the brief vision test that is given by family doctors, school screenings or the department of motor vehicle is a an eye exam. Complete eye examination are performed only by certified eye care professionals.
It is important to understand that a complete eye examination involves not only checking for the quality of your vision, but also the detection of the signs of several chronic diseases including Diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, autoimmune diseases and various systemic conditions.
The different types of tests done by doctors:
The Eye exam starts with a series of questions about your medical history and eye health. The exam will then involve a series of tests, including Visual Acuity Tests, Keratometry, Eye Movement, Pupils, Peripheral Vision Tests, Binocular Function Tests, Tonometry, Slit Lamp Evaluation, Direct and Indirect Ophthalmoloscopy.

Eyeglasses fitting
Regardless of your eye condition, age, and occupation, there are several choices of prescription ophthalmic lenses that meet your unique lifestyle and vision correction needs. These are few examples:
Polycarbonate Lenses: Polycarbonate lenses are up to 10 times more impact resistant than regular plastic lenses.
Progressive Lenses: Progressive lenses allow multiple vision fields to be incorporated into a single lens without any clear distinction between the fields themselves. This is why progressive lenses are often referred to as “no-line” bifocals or trifocals.
High Index and Aspheric Lenses: Manufactured to be thinner at the edges of the lens and lighter in weight overall—a good choice for people with stronger prescriptions.
Photochromic Lenses: Photochromic lenses change from clear to dark based on the intensity of UV radiation. Bifocal Lenses: Bifocals are lenses with two distinct viewing areas to help correct vision that fails at two or even three distances.

At Sanaga Optical & Eye Care Centers, we are diagnosing and managing several diseases like Dry eyes, Blepharitis, Bacterial Infections, Allergies, Glaucoma, Macular Degeneration and Cataracts. Earlier and more precise diagnosis means earlier treatment and better outcomes.
Laser Vision Correction
At Sanaga Optical & Eye Care, we are associated with several local ophthalmic surgeons to provide pre-operative evaluation and post-operative care to our patients for LASIK and other vision correction procedures.
We will evaluate your eyes and discuss your visual goals to help determine if you are an appropriate candidate for LASIK, PRK or Cataract Refractive Technology. We will recommend a pre-operative evaluation to determine suitability for refractive surgery.
If after the pre-operative evaluation, the decision is made to proceed with surgery, your information will be forwarded to the surgeon. Post-operative care will be provided at Sanaga Optical & Eye Care Center. Evaluation of any additional needs such as reading glasses, sunglasses, or enhancement laser procedures is also included.
