The Sanford Family Collection, including the library and papers of city founder, Henry S. Sanford, was donated to the city by Sanford's daughter, Carola Sanford Dow. On display are European and American paintings, furniture, personal objects and books dating from 1820-1890.We are free to the public."

It's free, there's no wait time and you learn the history of Sanford from its very beginning to what it is now. The indigenous people were killed so that the Europeans could take their land and profit from it. At least the museum sticks to the honest truth! The young lady was very knowledgeable about the history of Sanford. I really enjoyed the artifacts throughout the museum. Beautiful! There's even an entire room as it would have liked in 1800s era. Fun!
This museum is so important for Sanford's history. Docent Karen helped me a lot. She is knowledgable, easy to understand, polite, and perfect in her job. I enjoyed my visit and learned a lot of things. The museum is free. You don’t have to buy a ticket. If you like, you can donate money. The museum is also very clean and well maintained. The employees thought of every little detail, and they made that museum perfect.

What a great museum! Discovered a lot of stuff I did not know. Huge fan of Weird Florida book, did not know he was from Sanford.
Great place to find out the history and heritage of the area. They were very helpful with us pulling up old records of the building we were interested in and even finding history of different owners of the location.
