Great tour! And it's a driving one. It is really nice because you can download the audio for it and drive along, get out at each spot and explore a bit. Very well done! I learned a lot. There is also a 4 mile hike with audio too, or you can do a shorter 2 mile one with a shortcut. Definitely worth a visit.Wait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
This is a remarkable park, with a beautiful setting and layout. Staff at the visitors center was helpful. The audio/drive tour was easy to manage and helped provide better context for each of the stops and the significance of the park in general. The views from each of the stops are beautiful - although I will need to come back and visit again in the fall. Also looks like a great place for biking, running, and hiking.
Very expansive national park for the battle of Saratoga, very significant historical event. No admission fee for this park. Several mile self guided nature loop. There are also hiking, biking and horse trails throughout the park. If your a history buff and in the area this is a great stop.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitPrice for adult entryFree
Very well maintained historical site. The visitors center has a very cool interactive map of the battle, lots of history, great views and a gift shop with a little something for everyone. The 10 mile loop around the battlefield is a must. You can walk, bike or drive.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
Besides historical aspect of Saratoga revolutionary war battle 20 mins movie in visitor center is pretty good at describing the sequence of events, this park is actually quite beautiful combination of fields, meadows and forests. Some parts of it can be compared to good arboretums. I would gladly hike the park but mid-summer 90 degree weather made a car tour with stops the only viable option.
Absolutely fabulous information center, pre-tour video, historical drive to points along the way supplimented with audio commentary describing the conflict which is easily accessed by one's phone or device. Historic interpreters available at the Nielson farm house at the beginning of the drive. They are significantly improving the significance of the site by the installation of new prominate, more formal, weather-proofed interpretive signage at each stop. The concrete walks leading to these future installations have been completed and it is hoped by summer of 2024 the project will be done. It will be a 5-star attraction then!
I love old history and this place has it. It was an early victory over the British. They show a 17 minute film about the battle and who was in command. On of two British generals who died in the war, died here. Thete are 10 stops and the last 5 have more walking. Well worth the trip
Plan 2 - 3 hours. America's first victory, and a turning point in the Revolutionary War. Although the Parks Service provides a movie, and the docents and rangers are quite knowledgeable, it behove you to read something before going to better understand the significance of the site. The 9 mile car tour has 10 stops. So even at just 5-6 mins a stop, it'll still take over an hour.
Talented staff and volunteers made this a great visit, adding much needed context. The park is free, with many interpretive signs. Great for family.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoFree entryYes
Definitely a must stop place for historians, avid Revolutionary War enthusiasts, anyone who is curious, everywhere who want to know a little more of early American history and are local/travelling through Saratoga Springs NY. We took the audio car tour and it was very informative, and gave options for pausing and getting out to see the battlefields and then listening when reaching the stops. There is also horseback trails, walking trails in the park as well. The visitor center was clean and staff on duty were very friendly and informative with the many questions about the site and area. It also had several rooms of revolutionary war artifacts, including a "light" cannon, as well as timelines and history. My friends and I were pleased with this stop and would highly recommend coming here. Be sure to support the park with donations or buying from the storefront in the visitor center. Note: the tours were free, be sure to give yourself plenty of time to enjoy it, two hours was ideal for the car one, but allow more for hiking, etc.
