Hand Crafted Cakes.
Hand Delivered Across Michiana.
Making people happy, one slice of cake at a time.
I’m guessing that tagline won’t win me a spot on the ballot for presidency some day but I’m ok with that. Pantsuits were never my style anyway.
My Story:
My love for baking all started when I was in law school as a way to de-stress. Some people turn to working out or other proactive methods to unwind. I eat cake. (ha kidding…partially).
My interest in baking actually stemmed from my fondness with the methodology behind it. Unlike the law (or life for that matter) where the outcome is only probable at best, baking is a hard science. By following a firm set of instructions, a positive outcome is almost always expected. And that predictability brought great comfort to me; especially in times I felt most out of control in other areas of my life.
It was only incidentally that I learned how much joy baking brought to me. Some of my fondest memories to date involve being in the kitchen. After all, the kitchen is where people congregate. It is a time for friends and family to be creative together, to learn from one another, to do a lot of tasting testing, and even more giggling. It is a time to share the good, bad and everything in between. And let’s be honest… many group gatherings in the kitchen involve at least one glass of wine. Food brings us all together. This is the reason why I decided to start this new chapter in my life. It is a privilege to create something with the possibility of producing a collection of happy memories for someone else.
The name is inspired by a childhood nickname. “Sassy” stems from my maiden name, Sasso. I’m sure that’s the root of the nickname. It likely had nothing to do with my personality. (insert sarcasm)
This new venture is dedicated to my two darling parents who have since passed; to my loving (and silly) husband Tommy, for always inspiring me to be the best version of my self. And to my son, Johnny, who makes my life as sweet as a slice of cake.
