STOP 10-STORY COMMERCIAL COMPLEX w LARGE PARKING GARAGE AND RETAIL STORES FROM BEING ERECTED ON THE PROPERTY NEXT TO THE PARK AT THE DIXIE HGWY ENTRANCE.
We can stop the out-of-state developers from building a 10-story high complex towering over Greynolds Park, ruining its natural and historic atmosphere and causing environmental damage. We have a legal team with a proven track record ready to help us. Will you please donate as little as $5-$10 to make this happen?
We are now facing a new threat to Greynolds Park and surrounding neighborhood, as the City of NMB planning staff is processing an application to re-zone the “Braha Dixie” land next to the park to “mixed-use” zoning to allow 10-story high building(s) that will contain at least 300 apartments/condos and retail establishments, along with a 600-car parking garage to accommodate the apartment dwellers and shoppers.
We must use a new strategy to stop this from happening, and your financial help is promptly needed. Thanks to the financial help of many of you (and fund-raising volunteers), we killed the last proposed project in Court – a hotel/office bldg. complex – as our legal team convinced the appellate court that the City violated its own zoning code regarding neighborhood consistency. The City, however, has now changed to mixed use zoning on the land just south of the Braha property and continuing south on Dixie, and it will now claim that is consistent with the zoning south on West Dixie Highway.
However, our legal team can mount an effective legal challenge through the use of experts retained to do traffic and urban planning studies, followed by litigation based on the expert testimony. This type of litigation is much more expensive than the type of case brought last time, which was basically the presentation of appellate briefs with city records.
To make this happen, we need to raise at least $25,000, with several thousand dollars needed within the next few weeks.
There are over 5,300 of you who are "likers" of our SAVE GREYNOLDS PARK Facebook Page and lovers of Greynolds Park. Here's your chance to do something to save the Park from those who only wish to profit by it. This Park is for all the people, not for the greedy few. If each of you donated an average of $5, that would vault us over the $25,000 needed in the next few weeks! There will be future legal costs as well. So, please donate at least $5. For those that can afford $50, $100, $200 or more, we need your help too! If you are sending your donation via check, please make it out to:
