Very lively and energetic place to spend your evenings. Lots of empty lawn space to run around and play casual games. If you are looking for some serious sports, there are numerous tennis courts, a basketball court and enclosures to play baseball. Not to forget, tracks for and equipments for specific workouts for the legs, arms, chest etc. There is also a fountain and the popular kids play area. If none of this interests you, no worries. Get on your picking mats and enjoy an outdoor evening with some nice music on the lawn.
Very busy. There were a lot of birthday parties today and a car show!! Dog-friendliness: If people bring their dogs to Scalzi Park, they need to PICK UP their dog's POOP!!! It is NOT that difficult.
#kidFriendly #AmpleParking I recently had the pleasure of visiting this amazing garden with my family, and I must say, it exceeded all our expectations! The garden not only offers ample space for kids of all ages to play and explore but also provides convenient parking and a delightful water fountain designed specifically for children. First and foremost, the spaciousness of the garden is remarkable. There's plenty of room for kids to run around, play games, and let their imaginations roam free. It's refreshing to find a garden that caters to children of different ages, ensuring everyone has a great time. The well-maintained pathways and open areas create a safe environment for little ones to explore and enjoy nature. Restroom available
Well kept. Grounds keepers seem to be always working. Best kept park in Stamford in my opinion. Only issue is the pickle ball courts taking over the street hockey courts. The street hockey court was once one of the best in the area but now it has been converted to a pickle all court. ‍ Playground: Outstanding playground with water fountain area! Restrooms: Very clean bathrooms Dog-friendliness: Very dog friendly Picnic area: Over 10+ picnic grounds
I will only speak for the tennis courts at Scalzi. Scalzi is one of my favorite places to play for the crowd and camaraderie. Always a good group of people. You really don’t have to prearrange a meet up as you’ll usually find someone pick up a rally or match with. I however give 3 stars because the court surface is the worst I’ve ever played on; there are cracks, faded lines, and dead spots all over the place. Definitely need to be a little careful as I’ve seen people trip while playing.
What an amazing Park I can walk for hours, with plenty of places to sit and rest in the shade and restrooms available if needed. 365 days of the year whether it's super hot or freezing cold it's a great place to get some exercise.
I absolutely loved this park. I was visiting from Jersey and felt like I was home. I enjoyed my park date and the open space the park offers. I didn't see any grills, but then again, I really wasn't really worried about them. However, it'd be nice if the park did provide them. I'd use them just like I use the ones back home. Oh! Also, another perk of the park.....get ready...FREE PARKING!! Not sure what yall got going on in CT, but we don't pay to go to parks where I'm from. I'll be visiting again.
Great playground but the water fountain by the splash pads doesn’t work there are no buttons so be prepared to have kids hydration in advance.
This park is great! We will get to the missing star in a moment. The basics: the park has a nice, perhaps quarter of a mile-1/2 mile loop paved trail, has some little fitness stages set up, a softball field, baseball field, nice playground area for the kids, huge tennis court area - I think there are 6-8 courts in total which seem well kept, there is a solo practice wall for your tennis improvement needs, there is a really nice skatepark area as well, open field areas for sprinting or tossing a frisbee or ball. There are grills with covered picnicking areas. They have an inaccessible tree obstacle course - some youth group of some kind has access to it. They also have a inline hockey rink and two volleyball courts which is great and a huge win! The problem is the hockey rink is run down - I blame people and what would appear to be the skatepark kids for some of this as they have makeshift ramps and grind rails set up. I also have not been able to find any information on leagues or drop in activity - I think this rink could be utilized much more, i for one would love to find a league to play in here. Volleyball courts - there are two volleyball courts which is great as the next closest are at Leone park, the issue here is that there is no sand or court lines/rope, and it is not well kept, I would like to see the parks and wreck improve these a bit, especially after all the work that went into revamping this park to add all the amenities that it has now! So, overall great, safe, park with lots of things to do. I wish they would do something with the roller rink and improve the volleyball courts! Oh! - they have bocce ball lanes as well with league play of some such going on all the time - looks like a fun time. Anyways, stop by and enjoy the park, keep it clean.
Scalzi Park in Stamford, CT., is a great family style park. It's got great walking paths, skateboarding, playground, multiple tennis courts, baseball fields & park benches. And, the best part is the Park is free.
