Scantic River Artisans, is a community dedicated to providing opportunities for local artists to explore, develop, and market their creations.
The Scantic River Artisans (Hampden Art Guild) begun as The Hampden Scantic River Artists over 20 years ago and our first exhibit was held at The Gallery at Laughing Brook. Twelve local artists exhibited. The idea of a local artists group grew and more opportunities for more exhibition venues and recruitment for other town artists began.
The group has also exhibited at The First Church Gallery in Springfield, The Little Red School House in East Longmeadow, The Wilbraham Public Library and local businesses in Hampden. In 2007, the guild organized The Big H Arts Festival for Hampden highlighted by our annual exhibit, a showing of high school art, musicians, children's activities and food provided by a local church and civic organizations. The Hampden Garden Club has
provided beautiful arrangements for our exhibitions.
In 2014 the group was reorganized and membership was extended to surrounding areas and all types of artisans.
The mission of the Scantic River Artisans is to connect the community through diverse, dynamic, and creative experiences. Dedicated to providing opportunities for local artists of all ages and skill levels to explore, develop, and market their creations. Through events and educational programming, The Scantic River Artisans strive to foster the appreciation of visual art and aspires to raise awareness about the relevance and intrinsic value of the visual arts in our community. We have a passion for creativity!
