Scharf Tax Services

I had very simple return, took less then 10 min and still charged me 200 dollars. Very upset and will not return, even of they are more difficult. I drove a long way for them.

I filed my 2019, 20 and 21 taxes with Jake. Began the process of refinancing my house two months ago only to find out my taxes for all three years were never accepted by the IRS, and I was NEVER notified. I have spent hours on the phone with the IRS trying to get to the bottom of it. Now I find out I owe approx 6k more than expected not from penalties or late fees, but from Jake miscalculating my stimulus payments and I also realized My child tax credit was not listed on any of my returns. I Never received stimulus payouts, or Bidens monthly child tax payment. My taxes are in shambles; I have no idea how to clean this up. I attempted to let Jake correct it, but he has been nonchalant, uncommunicative and frankly acts like it’s not a big deal. Apparently nepotism means more to this tax firm than actually submitting taxes to the IRS. STAY AWAY FROM SCHARF TAX. UPDATE: I have called, texted and emailed Jake and SCHARF taxes several times over the last 2 weeks. No one calls me back, no one responds to my texts or emails. As far as I can tell only one of my three returns has been processed by the IRS. The penalties on that return alone total over $700. I’m afraid the only way I can get a response from SCHARF is through litigation. What a nightmare! Second Update: 1 month and still no response from SCHARF tax or Jake. I’m now getting letters from the IRS that my forms were filled out incorrectly and they need supporting documentation.

Jake was excellent to work with! Just the right balance of friendly and professional. We had multiple sources of income from multiple states and a mid-year move across state lines, and we were in and out in less than an hour. Very reasonable rate as well. If our taxes are ever non-trivial in the future, we'll definitely be back! Office smelled a bit like cigarette smoke, but in a "grandparents who used to smoke" kind of way - noticeable, but not offensive.

Been using Scharf Tax for several years. We use to get a call from our tax professional summarizing our filing and what steps we need to take to prepare for the following year. Those calls stopped for the past few years. The only call received for two straight years is from what has to be the most unfriendly clerk in the office. When I walk in to pay for the preparation service, this same clerk just stares at me. I stood there hoping to be greeted.... Nothing. Time to use another firm, something happened with Scharf. Time to move on.

I have been a satisfied customer since 2001, Jean and Patty know their stuff and do a great job. I have referred numerous friends and colleagues to Scharf Tax Service over these past 16 years and will continue to do so. Thanks for your service guys.

filed my taxes incorrectly with my city income tax- just received a late bill from the IRS. I have called twice to try to discuss with Scharf and the receptionist has told me twice that no one is there to speak with. I will continue to call and will not use them again or recommend them to anyone
