Hackensack Law Firm focusing on Commerical, Corporate, Matrimonial, Employment, Personal Injury and Probate Matters
Our law firm was established in 1930 in Bergen County, New Jersey. We have been providing the highest quality legal service to our clients for over 75 years. Our law firm has always been noted for impeccable integrity along with experienced, attentive service.
Today, Schiffman, Abraham, Kaufman & Ritter, P.C. is a law firm composed of eight partners, experienced associates and a large support staff of legal assistants, secretaries and clerks. We are large enough to handle the most complex litigation, and have extensive experience handling complex civil litigation and family law matters. At the same time, we are small enough to provide you with personal, individualized service.
We have consistently been the law firm of choice for other lawyers and for many judges when their own personal interests have been at stake. Those who regularly come in contact with the quality of our services have been quick to recognize the unique values that our staff of highly experienced lawyers can provide.
Our attorneys are often appointed by judges to assist in the resolution of challenging cases involving unique solutions and issues, including the well known "Baby M" case, extremely complex probate and family law matters, very difficult corporate dissolution matters and especially challenging guardianship litigation.
Four of our attorneys have been peer selected as New Jersey Super Lawyers* — Robert Ritter in business litigation, Lorraine Abraham in estate planning and probate, Barry Kaufman in family law, and Evan L. Goldman in personal injury. Robert Ritter has also been selected by his peers as a Best Lawyer in America* in commercial litigation and as one of New York Area's Top Lawyers.* Two of our attorneys have been peer selected as New Jersey Super Lawyer Rising Stars* — Daniel Eichhorn in business litigation and Kit Calligaro in family law.
In addition, one of our partners, Evan Goldman, has also been certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a civil trial attorney. "Certified civil trial attorney" is a designation granted by the New Jersey Supreme Court to attorneys who demonstrate sufficient levels of experience, education, knowledge and skill in criminal and/or civil trial practice. The Supreme Court, through its Board of Attorney Certification, designates only those lawyers who apply for certification and who are able to meet the standards set by the board and approved by the court. Currently, out of approximately 60,000 active lawyers in New Jersey, only 1500 currently hold board certification.
