Schmitty's Oar House Bar & Grill

Been recommended this place for years since I go paddle boarding on lake Winnebago. There's a river that runs right to the bar and Easy access right on the lake. Large dining room and plenty of seating. Bathrooms were clean and updated and believe there are two sets of each men's and women's. Myself, the favorite was the marshmallow martini during our visit. Started with an appetizer of Crab Rangoon egg rolls which were filling and creamy served with a spicy Thai chili sauce. Followed by entrees ,Gyro and asparagus soup. Lobster grilled cheese and parmesan french fries. Service could have been a little better but it was approaching closing time after a long memorial day weekend.

Usually it's too packed for our liking, however, we hit it at the right time and enjoyed or meal as always. The Poutine Burger was something I wanted to try and it didn't disappoint. My favorite is the Manhattan Fish Sandwich tho.Food: 5/5

The host did a great job finding us a second table in the 11th hour when our group increased by 5 people from 7 to 12, during a very busy Friday fish fry! Our server did an incredible job, again during a very busy time without losing her mind! She was well trained and experienced! Excellent. The 40% tip was well deserved! Schmitty's Friday fish fry tastes great and is reasonably priced. Lastly, there are big Sturgeons on display for you to admire while eating your meal. Very cool!

If 6 stars was an option, they would get it!!!! We came from out of town and all the reviews I read said to come early so e plan to get there at about 5:15, end up taking a wrong turn or set us back about 7 minutes and then we're only four minutes away we got stopped by the longest and slowest train I've ever seen which set us back another 13 minutes. As we sat there I was thinking maybe we should just turn around as we had someplace to be after dinner- boy am I glad we didn't do that! The parking lot was pretty full, but we drove around and found a spot, the only negative was when we walked in we weren't really sure what to do to get a table no host stand that I noticed or sign directing us. I went to the bathroom and then walked up to the bar one of two full size bars and grabbed a couple seats there once another couple left for their table. Again we were in a rush so we ended up just eating at the bar. Ordered some old fashioned's from a very friendly and busy bartender Hailey I think-drinks were hand muddled and delicious! She took our order right away and got us another round of drinks. Staff worked very well together as they were very busy on a Friday night and really had a customer first approach. They checked in often- my wife and I split a seafood combo and fish combo which included fried haddock, fried shrimp, fried bluegill, fried perch, choice of side, rye bread, coleslaw and homemade delicious tartar sauce as a chef the tartar was some of the best I've ever had. The fish was cooked perfectly, well seasoned and generous portions. I cannot get over how great our bartender did- with how busy it was and how often she checked in and remained calm under pressure saw a few spills, accidents and drops in her bar area and she kept on rocking it through it all it was a great customer service experience for us. The ambiance was cool for a bar and grill, we absolutely cannot wait to get back here for another amazing dinner!

Enjoyed a nice dinner with my two littles. Food was great, I had the breaded haddock and my kids each had a burger. Food portions and presentation were good, service was great and we didn't have to wait to be seated, even though they were super busy.Only negative about this place is how noisy it is. I've been an worse, but this is definitely in my top 10. Overall, good experience and we'll be back. Kid-friendliness: They have a kids menu and separate seating from the bar area.

Schmittys is a great local place for a large variety of good food. Everything we have tried here is good. The parking lot is a little weird but there's plenty of space inside. The people who work here are all awesome - everyone is attentive and always enjoying themselves, even when things are bumping. The bathrooms are clean. Kinda wish there was a bit more bathroom though - a couple more stalls wouldn't hurt. I don't recommend this place for kids, not because they don't have kid food, but the height of tables/general atmosphere are not very kind friendly. Lots on tap. The drinks are great. The cheesehead burger is great - do not underestimate the amount of cheese. The bang bang shrimp bowl is a great one. Kid-friendliness: Not really kid friendly. There is kid food but the atmosphere and tables aren't very good for them. Parking: The parking lot is a bit limited/weird. You may need to park across the street and walk over.

Excellent service at Schmitty's! We were visiting from Alabama, and our friends in FDL took us to Schmitty's. The food was delicious, the service was great. Very fun atmosphere as well! They have a huge variety of menu items, so there's something for everyone- Plus, the amount of food is definitely worth it! If you go home hungry, it's your own fault! Lol

I never post restaurant reviews, but Schmitty's Bar & Grill exceeded our expectations and I had to share. The fun atmosphere along with incredible food made for an absolutely amazing experience! My husband and I found ourselves kid free for the evening and decided to go on an impromptu date night. After doing a Google search we decided on Schmitty's. The food was delicious and the service was exceptional. The menu offered a diverse selection of foods and everything we had was fresh. With the food's quality and and location you would expect a higher price point, but we were pleasantly surprised and will be brining our kiddos with us when we come back. I highly recommend giving this place a try when you are in the Fond du Lac area.

We come here a couple of times a month! Very excellent service. We usually get the chicken wings. They are so yummy! We tried the potato boats this time, too, and we didn't really care for them. But if you love bacon, then they are for you. The inside was mostly bacon, not much potatoes. Weird pile of lettuce in the middle of the plate with a small dollop of sour cream. This is the only reason we gave 4 stars. See ya in a couple weeks!

Lots of menu choices, there was something for everyone! The food was amazing!! The restaurant was packed, but our orders were taken quickly. Food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. Everyone in our group was too full for dessert, thanks to Schmitty's generous portions.Food: 5/5
