Dominican University SOIS offers an ALA-accredited MLIS, a Master of Science in Information Mgmt, School Library Media Licensure, an undergraduate major and minor in informatics, and a PhD.
Dominican’s School of Information Studies (name changed from the Graduate School of Library and Information Science on October 6, 2016) has long been a presence on Chicago’s higher education landscape, first offering library science programs in the 1930s. We began offering an undergraduate library science degree in 1930 and introduced the master's in library science in 1949. The school works to stay ahead of trends, expanding its graduate programs to encompass the modern breadth of library and information science. In addition to the ALA-accredited MLIS, Dominican offers a PhD in Library and Information Science, a Master of Science in Information Management, School Library Media licensure and endorsement, a Bachelor of Science in Informatics, and a variety of professional certificates in in-demand specializations.
But even with all the changes we’ve seen since then, our values and mission remain the same—to educate true innovators and library and information science leaders who can have a positive impact on their library, business, or institution every day.
