My son has been going to the School of Rock for over 3 years now and he loves it. We love how there are not only lessons, but the performance groups as well. My son has had amazing opportunities to perform at local venues as well as on a cruise to Bermuda and in Atlantic City. All of the teachers and directors are great with the kids and work really hard. Highly recommend! :
We have been a part of the school of rock family for about 7 years now. Both of my kids take drum lessons and are very happy with the programs. I highly recommend this school. The teachers are fun and knowledgeable and we have such great experiences here.
My wife signed up our 2.5 year old for a trial. Confirmation of our son’s age was confirmed via email, in person paperwork. My wife observed the class while our son participated. According to my wife, the teacher was late, there was no structure in the music room despite the “teachers” effort. Our son found interest in the drums to which the teacher gave a lesson about snare drums. The kids were not focused grabbing toys shuffling them around. Allegedly the other two kids who participated in the class were 5years old. After approximately 15-20 minutes later a gentleman entered the room to greet my wife and upon asking our son’s age he stated that our son cannot join the class because of his age. Understandable, but considering our son was actually interested in the drums and not mindlessly wandering - our son’s maturity level should have been considered. Upon leaving front staff asked if everything was okay, to which my wife said that the male had said he was too young. One woman scoffed and stated that they usually take 3 year olds if they are “mature.” Overall disorganized and wouldn’t waste my money there
My child was very on the shy side before I signed her up for a camp here, only knowing keys. It was definitely not what I was expecting! It was performance based, and the instructors and directors were amazing. The most recent open house is where I saw my daughter come out of her shell more. She was singing her heart out, and switching instruments from bass to guitar to drums like it was nothing! And she never spoke before to anyone, so singing was definitely a shock for me...kudos to the owners and the instructors for making my daughter the more outgoing and sociable person she is today.
My teenage son has always shown musical inclination but we didn't have a direction for it. We originally thought that he would take up drumming, however, after receiving a guitar from my Uncle. My son chose the guitar. I've known about the School of Rock from seeing them do group performances. The registration process was easy and they really focused on his abilities. It isn't all about learning guitar, they focus on his abilities and incorporate his great rhythm into his playing. It gives my son the confidence to keep playing and he has really impressed me with his commitment. They keep him on track, which as a Father is important to me. He still drums around but has also found a love for the Guitar. One note: The fact that they play a lot of Rock Music I am able to relate to the music he is playing which is fun and have shown up to their gigs with my family & friends, which is great all on its own to see my son doing something tangible with his skills. I recommend the school & the programs that Mr. Camp offers.
My daughter started with School of rock when she was 7. The staff was extremely welcoming and really helped and encouraged her talent. Being in such a positive environment also helped her self confidence with school and other activities. She now cannot wait to join a band this winter! Highly recommend!!
As a school teacher, administrator and parent, I am very critical when it comes to selecting programs for my children. From our first visit my wife, also a teacher, and I were sold by the care and enthusiasm shown by the staff. Joel, the owner, does a great job of acquiring talented and supportive instructors. Years later, we're still impressed . Most importantly, our son loves every lesson and performance.
My 4 year old grandson Myles shares his birthday with Ringo Starr. He absolutely loves playing the drums and is totally into the School of Rock in Farmingdale! He asks his parents every week if he can go to the School of Rock instead of his regular school!! It's a great place!!!
This has been an amazing experience. My son started hear 1 year ago at the age of 9. He had never played guitar. Not only did he take lessons but joined the band. It has taught him so many life skills. The band inspired him to practice and tackle harder material. Being in the band exposed him to different music and give him a confidence and passion that has carried over into other areas.
We are off to a great start at School of Rock a Farmingdale. I can’t say enough about a Joel and Emilia as business owners, and the teachers we have had so far have been fantastic. My daughter Lexi is going to thrive in this place! Looking forward to starting the Yes VS Rush season. It’s going to be sick!
