Schoolhouse
"We are makers of heirloom-quality lighting and home goods driven by a shared passion for timeless design and traditional manufacturing practices. The company was founded in 2003 when owner Brian Faherty restored a set of cast iron molds for making glass lamp shades and used them to produce our first line of period light fixtures. Today, our collections span industrial, mid-century modern, and traditional designs, while maintaining an identity all their own. The mantra 'Want Better, Not More' informs every product we release, which is why the majority are hand-finished and assembled in a century-old brick factory in Portland, Oregon. Find our products online at our website."

Having ordered many Schoolhouse products over the last ten years, seeing the mothership in person finally happened. The store is beautiful, showcasing all products. It also has a lot of vintage goods and a cafe inside. The quality and craftsmanship of this company is top notch. Bike parking is a A + right in front.
UPDATE: Schoolhouse did get back to me and will replace my shipment. I still hope they do something about that terrible bot on the website. Thwarting your customers is not a good long-term plan. ORIGINAL REVEW: This is not the same Schoolhouse Electric. Notice they don’t have a phone number on their website. They use a Zendesk chatbot for customer service. Another great company grows out of its awesomeness.
Large showroom with beautiful midcentury modern furniture, lighting, decor, and hardware. We purchased the hardware for our newly renovated kitchen here and are so happy with the weight, comfort of use, and quality. I purchased samples of hardware from a lot of other shops and the Schoolhouse hardware was leaps and bounds higher in quality, modernity, and style. For larger quantities, you'll likely need to place an order for hardware. I just stopped by twice and over the two visits was able to pick up everything I needed. They offer discounts to industry professionals. They also had a pretty decent sale on hardware about six months after we purchased ours so it's worth it to sign up for e-mail alerts if you plan to purchase down the road. Their catalogs are beautiful. The prices are high, but for locally made, high-quality, stylish pieces, they are well worth it. As a side note - the coffee bar seems to be back up and running.
My fiancé and I absolutely love the home goods here! We've previously only been on their website, so when we were planning a trip up to Portland we knew we had to stop here. The space is in an old industrial building with an open floor plan. The space has great light and it's a great opportunity to see how certain products can be styled for inspiration. We ended up leaving with some new bedding that we fell in love with! Just wish the prices were a bit cheaper, but you're definitely paying for quality items here!
Given that they were bought out by the Food52 empire who has the worst worst customer service/operations ever, do not expect anything stellar from this company. Order your items from somewhere else - while their stuff is cool, you can find similar if not identical on other sites. Food52 lost by business in 2019 and now Schoolhouse.
This place is the dream! If I could make my house a schoolhouse product I would. The pillows, the hardware, the throws. Everything is highest quality. And that isn't even mentioning the lighting. The people are amazing and helpful. We come here to get something every time we are in Portland. If we lived here, this place would drain us. I recommend this to anyone and everyone. They make a lot of their own products right here in Portland. Support this amazing local decor.
I got to go on a factory tour of the building and it was awesome seeing the behind the scenes of how most of their products are made on site. Their prices reflect their attention to detail, craftsmanship, and of course it's made in the USA. Beautiful store, beautiful new cafe, awesome staff. 5 stars from me
Great team of staff. The selection of goods is wonderful. A little of everything...lighting, bedding, household and a fun selection of vintage products.
Make sure you read the fine print on availability before ordering. Especially if it's a Christmas gift!!!!! Also, their customer service sucks!
Paid my first trip here after being a die-hard fan of the online brand. It was great to see products in person. I hope they will eventually come to Seattle. Sales reps were friendly and helpful.
