Schumacher Farm Park is a Dane County Historic Park and prairie conservancy with a Friends Group dedicated to the preservation of 1920's rural life.

Description

The park includes a Depression-era farmstead with typical buildings and farm machinery, an heirloom garden, and a 10-acre prairie restoration including hiking trails. Picnic table and restrooms are available.

To provide a living history museum and nature conservancy that offers a representation of Dane County's rural heritage through preservation, restoration and education.

We love this little treasure of a park. I’ve never known a farm turned public park and that is a special thing to have access to! My kids love the sandbox, old machinery on display, and chickens. Some caretakers were around weeding and such the other day and they let my kids help feed the chickens. So fun for them! We loved seeing the vegetable garden. : There are some vault toilets and they are kept clean.

We came 30 miles to see an Elvis impersonater on June 3rd. His show was canceled, no sign to tell us this. Nothing on the website. I would not have been pleased to pay only to find out he wasn't appearing. If my Mom hadn't asked, we would have paid to see someone we didn't want to see. Not good Schumacher Farm.

Went on Friday during the day. Cool little farm park. But nothing was open. The previous reviews said you could explore the buildings. I guess it must be appointment or something.

What a gem! This place was such a great stop over on our road trip. It is free to go on the grounds and explore the tractors and old sheds. There are clean bathrooms and the garden flowers attracted a divers array of butterflies and bees. The horse shoes toss was our favorite and we would definitely pack a picnic and even grill if we were in the area again. Bonus:the town does the road is very charming and pretty

I had a wonderful Halloween Event, with my 4 Grandchildren and Daughter daughter-in-law. It was beautiful, bonfire, hayride, reading rooms, fortune tellers, hot dogs, brats, kettlecorn! There was a Magician there that was awesome, his name is Ryan!  If you have any events, I would call the local Auxiliary Board and ask them for his name and number for a private event!  He is in front of you, his hands are quicker than your eyes he's an excellent magician! I had a wonderful time, a nice welcome to Waunakee, WI for me, just moving to Waunakee.

Beautiful historic farm and prairie trails. We enjoyed exploring with our kids and dog. The grounds have lots of picnic tables, a sandbox, and horseshoe pits. I think it could be a fun location for an outdoor family picnic.

Stunning preservation of a wonderful farm. Beautiful views of the fields and a gorgeous farm house in mint condition on the inside. A museum in every respect

This is a great place to catch a sunset and take a walk through the prairie. In the summer there are chickens to visit and it's always fun looking at the old farm equipment on the lawn. Once Covid breaks, this park hold great events for families like Heritage Fest and Halloween on the Farm. At Christmas, there's usually a holiday tea in the house that is always nice. The farmhouse has a working wood stove that is used to teach people how to cook the old fashioned way.

Lovely place to visit with the family and dog. Nice trails about 20 minutes to walk the full prairie. Fun to visit the chickens, let the kid play in the sandbox,  check out the heirloom garden, and attend events.
