I had the Stuffed Baked Haddock, which was very good. They also have a good selection of beers on draft. Had the Shipyard Pumkin Ale. Amazing!
The food is phenomenal! We loved the calamari and pork wings, as well as the Northern Fried Chicken. The daily specials are innovative and delicious. The atmosphere is laid back, and we loved sitting by the fire after dinner and visiting with our friends. We have already been there twice in less than a month, and plan on going back many more times! Keep up the good work! You won't be disappointed...
The chef Johnathan was amazing. He went over and above to meet every one of our needs! His suggestions for meals were unbelievably delicious. We ate at restaurant twice while we stayed at hotel and the food was amazing. First night was steak and second was ribs, never had better. He personally came out to the table to tell us about his menu. Very impressed with his capabilities to create wonderful food! Can't wait to return!
We hit this at the wrong time, between seasons, apparently, with a woefully understaffed kitchen and old meat that made my family members' stomachs upset for days do not be fooled by their "cottage pie" special. It took almost 2 hours to get the food, bad as it was, which is particularly not cool with 4 children under the age of 9. The cocktails were not well prepared and the stuffed mushrooms special was ridiculously overpriced at $15 for 3 mushrooms. Not a good experience. Perhaps they are better in their high seasons, but do not go there in November . . . or ever. We will never return.
They do not even deserve a star. Went to this place on Saturday night and the service was awful, the beer was horrible and the food was not edible. I think all these reviews are from family members and are fake. They charges 19 dollars for Chicken Cordon Blue and it was not edible. The rice pilaf was not cooked, the side of zucchini was slimy and not edible and the Cordon Blue was probably a week old and disgusting! My husband got Seafood Chowder and there was no seafood just bacon bits and potatoes, it was so gross.... The waitress was nice but timid and when I said the food was not edible her manager talked to her on the side and never came over to apologize or offer a solution. He did take 10 off which it should have been both meals because we did not eat them. We could not. If we did, we probably would have thrown up. The manager just sat over with friends and could care less. Gross place! Do not go!!!!
Amazing food, some of the best I've had in the Lakes Region. Not too far away, either! If you live in any surrounding Gilford towns, it's worth the 10 min drive. Everything is scratch made. Staff is very friendly. You needy I try the hand-cut, seasoned fries.
Spent the weekend in laconia and skied at Gunstock. Stopped here with 3 friends after skiing. Weren’t sure what to expect but glad we stopped. We got there early on a Saturday we’re seated right away. There was a nice fire and small lodge area. 12 beers on tap. Beer was good and cold. And dining room is situated above a huge pool for the hotel so it’s a neat set up. Dining room is a little dated/ has Christmas decorations up still but we were here to eat not for what was in the wall. I had an 8oz filet with Bernaise sauce. A twiced naked potato, and vegetable medley. It came with soup or salad and I opted for the special soup. Baked potato chowder. I thought it was delicious. Steak was well cooked and bernaise was real, made in house not powdered hollandaise with dried tarragon. The twice baked was really good to. 2 of my friend got ribeyes, one with mashed and one with baked potato and our last friend went for the 24 oz sirloin. He ate every bite. He was really impressed that they had a 24 oz. and that it was cooked so well. It was log cut and he had it with rice pilaf. Finally I finished with a baileys flavored Irish cream creme brûlée. Rich custard with burnt sugar in a deep dish. Excellent. Two friends opted for the browny sundaes with vanilla ice cream and they enjoyed. Overall and excellent meal. Well cooked and attentive service. Would recommend to anyone in the area. Will definetly come back next time we are in the area
The best kept secret in the lakes region. The 1800's charm of the Gunstock Inn just adds to the experience here. My girlfriend and I came up for a dinner cruise on the Mount Washington and a romantic getaway at the Gunstock Inn. After checking into our room we decided to go with the front desk recommendation of prime rib night at Schuster's. Well we did it and the applewood smoked prime rib was absolutely extraordinary!!! It was coupled with a delicious twice baked potato and sauteed vegetables. We finished the meal off with a fabulous chocolate mousse truffle cake. Our service was excellent and the prices are reasonable. After seeing the buffet food on the dinner cruise we were so glad we ate at Schuster's. We have actually stayed an extra night at the Inn and tonight I had a 16 oz ribeye steak and my girlfriend had the grilled swordfish. We are in love with Schuster's and the Gunstock Inn! I can't believe anyone would write a bad review about this place. If you want the Ritz Carlton go stay there. If you want classic New England charm and amazing food stay here.
We stayed at Gunstock Inn over the weekend and ate here twice. Both times the food was delicious. With how good everything tasted both visits I can't find a reason to not give 5 stars.
Wonderful place the chef Johnathan is amazing. Yes they serve grass feed beef, but I've had a fair share of grass feed beef nothing like this though. Best chef around I would recommend this to everyone!!!
