It is very sad to see Doc Schafer retire.  He has been absolutely wonderful since I got my dog in 2014. My dog has had quite a few health issues that are common to her breed and Doc has always been there with simple remedies and good sound advice.  Since my dog had to go to him every 8-12 weeks I had a lot of experience with the Doc and his wonderful staff.  I cannot say enough good things about them.  Dr. Lee is now taking over the practice and I look forward to her continued good care of my fur baby.

The staff and doctor provide excellent and friendly service here. I always leave with happy dogs whose nails are trimmed, more information than I walked in with, and maybe a handout or two. What's more, they always make an effort to ensure your/your animals' in my case, dogs' needs are being met, whether it is tick prevention, exercise, diet, or just checking in. I remember one time, I was boarding my dogs to catch a flight to a dear friend's wedding, and there was one vaccine my dog was missing. I called the vet in a panic because my flight was in a few hours, and the borders would not take him without the shot. Well, the doctor squeezed me in and got my dog the vaccine he needed within twenty minutes! I made the flight, and I had an excellent time.

Terrible experience. Disorganized staff lost our appointment twice and Dr. Wendy Lim ran the wrong blood work for our poor dog in spite of our explaining in advance to staff and her as well during the appointment. In addition to her not being able to draw blood correctly, when we called after receiving the wrong blood work results Dr. Lim never called us back. Zero confidence in Dr. Lim's veterinary abilities, service, and listening skills.

why are people leaving 5 star reviews for a business that doesnt take new customers? I will be happy to remove this review when that changes. When a business says "no" it doesnt give you much to work with. Sorry guys

I went yesterday with my 15-old dog for the first time. Great experience, I will definitely come back , also with my cat. Staff and Dr Schaffer are very friendly. Affordable very good veterinarian, not the commercial type, very aware of costs of medicines and procedures, advised me not to do certain things due to the old age of my dog. Dr. Schaffer asked me very good relevant questions and explained the reasoning of his conclusions. He answered patiently all my questions. Gave me a lot of good advice. Thank you Scotch Plains Animal Hospital!

Dr Steve is the best vet by far! Was able to see our 10week old sick kitten. He knew within seconds what was wrong. He was caring and gentle and made our kitten better! You can see he really cared! The staff was also incredible! Thoughtful,caring, and efficient.  Fettuccine our kitten is a patient of Dr Steve forever!

i went to SPAH for the first time to bring my dog. The staff Amanda and Stacey were very nice. Dr. Schaefer met Cody . I felt the visit was very rushed. i was in and out in 10 mins. I had read that all other dogs, he spends time going over their records. I absolloutely was rushed. He was weighed . I will try going again when Cody needs to go. We'll see.

We have been going to scotch plains hospital since 1986 and between the staff and dr we never ever had a bad experience with all of our dogs kind gentle and understanding  best around

nicest staff and the doc knows his stuff.  We are so fortunate to have found such a loving and caring team.  they are very affordable.

Levi enjoys all the love and attention he gets from Scotch Plains Animal Hospital : Happy I found them! I feel comfortable and at ease with him in their care. He is a happy and healthy puppy! We will be sending our golden doodle when she is due for a visit.
