I went to the ER on 9/20/22 pm. Dr Carter and the nurses were very nice. However there were no blankets. The nurse had to get on from housekeeping due to the warmer being broken for 3 weeks. A Pediatric pulse ox meter was used because they were out. It kept causing the alarm to go off. Didn’t get a room until 3:00 am. Bed alarm malfunctioned. Needless to say I will never go back.
A tiny grasshopper got in my ear while sleeping. Went to the ER and waiting about an hour. It was 11pm. The staff definitely did not know how to handle a bug in the ear and proceeded to do a lot of damage trying to get it out. They managed to drown it and sent me home advising me to call a Ear specialist to take it out. Its leg had penatrated my ear drum. Doctor had no bedside manner. I suffer from anxiety and the awful pain of them digging around in my ear with tweezer was bad. I know living in the country doesn't always have the best health facilities but if you don't know what you are doing don't touch it and send us somewhere else. If I have any real bad medical emergency I am going south to Clarksville Baptist or Louisville for treatment
This hospital is not a very good hospital at all. My dad has been here on a vent for 8 days, can't be moved. The ICU nurse Wilma, was incredibly rude and assaulted me. She was also screaming in my dads room when his heart rate was 125 beats per minute. They have no ICU doctor at night. Also, emergency doctor acted as if I was the issue. SHANE AVERY. They also have an adolescent doctor in the emergency department treating adults. The state really needs to close this place down until they get more staff and more equipment. This place isn't very compassionate either and not very professional on their paperwork and/or rules, regulations, and policies. I recommend going to Kentucky or up north if you want your life to actually be saved. Also be sure to contact the mayor or health department so that they can maybe help this hospital out.
My dad ended up passing away here. Doctors wouldn’t allow hospice to visit my dad. They talked my family out of hospice and a representative for my dad. They don’t have a clue about next of kin laws in Indiana. They go to eldest sibling and sister before they go to ALL children when someone is potentially dying. They get mad at you for calling and checking on your family member as if they don’t have enough staff to answer phones and take care of patients. Nurses get aggravated when you ask simple questions. Nurses also assault you when asking questions. Dad was being transported to another hospital when he died on the ambulance. Doctor wouldn’t sign death certificate. Were not very compassionate and were quite rude and did not seem to understand why a family member would be upset when a loved one is dying. Only doctor who showed any consideration which was after the fact and I had time to process the event was Shane Avery. And when he did show consideration, he showed little to none. So that should tell you something about this hospital. This is NOT the first bad experience I have had with this hospital & nurses. I gave birth here and tore, lost alot of blood, had shoulder dystocia & was permitted pain medicine, forced to lay down, nurse was HOLDING my arms down. I had to cuss her out to get her to stop touching me. I remember having my blood drawn here and they often ruptured my vein during the process. I almost passed out while getting a blood draw here. I go elsewhere and have gotten my blood drawn many many times and have not once had the experience I had here. I agree they have a few excellent nurses here and maybe a FEW good doctors, and I mean VERY FEW, but I wouldn’t go here ever again, and I wish my dad didn’t do here when he got sick, but because of COVID, and all the hospitals being coincidentally full all at once, he had no other choice. My dad disliked this hospital, and would often tell me he was scared to be put here. I don’t at all recommend this hospital and several others say some of the same things about the lack of compassion, but to your own discretion.
I try to give all hospitals and doctors respect and second chances. 1 st they lost all my sons belongings and he died 3 weeks later in Louisville and no glasses, billfold or clothes. 2 . My husband took my 16 year old grandson here and he was so sick and doc was total doushe but nurse was awesome, definitely need bed side manner 3. Sitting here in car waiting on my oldest son who is ate up with arthritis and he texted me saying this doc is a clown and I seriously want to go in but I am on walker it’s to hard. It’s time to shut it down and bring new in
I have used this hospital for 2 years now and I have never had a bad experience. I saw one review where 1 star was given because the poor soul has to wait 15 minutes. Good luck with a shorter wait at any other hospital. I've never had an issue with waiting or being properly treated! My biggest compliment is the continuity of care. At least for myself, it doesn't matter what physician is on duty, I'm always treated with respect and compassion. If they know you have a legitimate issue, they treat it accordingly! I'd give y'all ten stars if I could. Very rarely, I might cross paths with someone who shouldn't work around around the public but not often. Some folks don't take into consideration the fact that that doctor you just saw might've just had to pronounce the death of a child etc... Or just got verbally assaulted because they're not perfect! Kudos to Dr. Shane Avery, Dr. Hicks, Dr Carter, Dr Croasdale, Dr. Skip, Dr Cooke and the night hospitalist. And the countless other staff members in charge of my health that I can't remember the names of all but big shout out to Wilma, Jean, Cathy, Zane and Dianna of the scu! Just all wonderful providers and caregivers. I can't speak for all but if you're an established patient, are completely honest and respectful, you'll get that and more in return.
I was there today after passing out and collapsing in the ER they treated me horribly and only tested me for a heart attack and not a stroke because I have high blood pressure Dr Avery treated me very nonchalant and I actually had a stroke they sent me home the nurses were very nice but not Doctor Avery my mother is reporting him to HR and so will I. Very bad bedside Manner by Dr. Avery this hospital will be reported.
Stopped at ER on way back from a road trip that I had to cancel due to illness on a Saturday late afternoon. Great experience. Triage nurse was wonderful and thorough. Dr. was same. I felt miserable going in and much better leaving and a lot less anxious about what my illness was. Thank you to everyone at the hospital who helped me.
I have to say, this is my first time having to stay in a hospital. So far, the staff here at Scott County Hospital has been AMAZING!! Everyone has been friendly, light hearted and very personable. They have made me feel so welcome and at ease and even a few laughs. Although I did have an issue with one of the doctors in the ER, I have addressed my concerns and I was assured that they would be given to the appropriate people. Another thing is, the technology they have here has blown me away. I’m still here playing the waiting game on my medicine, it’s nothing with the staff it’s just a medicine that has to be dialed in perfectly and it takes time/depends on the person.
My grandson busted his head open and blood was gushing and I helped him walk into the hospital and asked if someone could help. I was told that this was the emergency room. I waited until it cleared out the line of people ahead of us Explained what happened. Was told that someone would be out in a minute. Well no one came out for over 20 plus minutes. I will never go back there. We ended up leaving and I took him to clark memorial hospital where he was immediately accessed and told to set where the lady at the receptionist desk could see him. Totally professional compared to Scottsburg hospital..
