About Us
This is a dream that my autistic daughter and I started almost 8 years ago when her 6 year old brother (my son) died. He died in a tragic accident and my daughter and I have not been the same since. We have overcome many challenges in our life.
We have tried many outlets and it seems that creating things helps us cope. She inspired me to make things to help others deal with their grief. At first we called ourselves “Emma & Me”. We were a tag team who didn’t let life bring us down. It started with memory candles with a poem I wrote and ornaments with his picture sewn with his clothing. I wanted a way that we could remember him when we were sad. Then we started healing and realized that freezing life memories came with the grief process. It has since moved on to many different things and a wide variety of products. Some deal with death some deal with birth and some are just cute ways of making someone smile. I have yet to find a product I couldn’t do or knew someone who could.
Art runs through our blood and my sister joined in with us. She was the first to learn vinyl and taught me most of what I know. One day while on a car ride A few years ago my sister & I were joking about names we could call ourselves since we seemed to be working on ideas together .She came up with SEA (Sam, Emma & Andrea) and so Crafted by the SEA was born. With us living on the water it seemed fitting.
Some of the challenges we went through on our journey have been extreme, burying a child/brother, going homeless, dealing with mental illness and dealing with the challenges that come from having autism (or as I call it unique) and that’s just a few. Because of this the main thing SEA is about is giving back. Emma & I decided no matter how small of a profit we make AT LEAST 10% will go to a charity each month and not the same charity either. Emma came up with the idea that when the first person to purchase an item of each month will choose the charity.
