I've shopped here for the last 4years and typically have great customer service... But twice this week I have been basically unwelcome in this store. Today the lights were turned off as I was waiting to be helped, basically closing the store 2 hours early with a customer inside..., when I asked the associate if he was closing he answered with a rude tone and demeanor "yes were closing early and yes I know the hours on the website say we're open until 7 but we're short staffed and I already shut everything down and I'm not starting it back up" without giving me a chance to reply at all. which would have been fine without the attitude... The time before this visit I stood around and waited for the same associate to get done racing the electric accessible carts around the store with his friends just to be helped, I mean he did stop finally to help me, but he acted as though I was bothering him, and as if I didn't have the money to buy the chosen product. I'm extremely disappointed... The customer service is definitely not the same as it was even last year... I wouldn't be surprised if this place closes permanently by the end of the year. While typing this review alone, this Sears Hometown store lost 2 more customers that were coming in to buy an $800 washer, and another wanting to buy a new refrigerator. Not to mention my $900 and the customer that I met as I walked out of the store.... within 20 mins of their "closing" early. Good luck to the owners.
I went there looking for a refrigerator, they had what I wanted on sale. Asked About delivery and the delivery fee was double the price of the refrigerator. I don’t know if the guy was joking so I walked out and never looked back and bought the same fridge from a mom and pop family appliance store for the same price and free delivery. In the past I would have no problem buying from sears of any type, but it is obvious that the company from store management on down does not care.
Got a washer on sale. Got it home and unboxed, found a huge dent in the side. Pro tip, if the box shows the slightest scrape or tear, open it at the store, this one must have been speared with a forklift just a little rip and scrape but what a dent. Anyway, the girl at the counter was able to offer either a discount or full refund. Had to get this installed ASAP so no real choice here as they didn't have any more available. Argued for more than 15% as I thought it would be marked down at least 25-50% as a scratch and dent but wouldn't budge. Would shop again.
I always shop here for The Holidays... For the Craftsman Tools I purchase for My Boys... Service is always excellent!... And they have a Good Knowledge of their inventory!... And there are always good sales to find!...
Bought a refrigerator from this store last weekend. When unpacking it, my wife and I noticed some dents and scratches. I called the store the very next day, sent in pictures via email to the store first thing Monday morning. On Thursday I called the store and spoke with the owner, and I was accused of scratching it when bringing it inside. This refrigerator was damaged either inside the box or before it got into the box. The owner argued that fact and told me he delivers 6 refrigerators a day...by my math that's 42 a week, 168 a month, and 2,016 a year.....and has never delivered one that has had scratches or dents while inside the box. I find that highly unlikely. I asked to speak to whoever is above him and again argued with me about how he is the big boss man and he doesn't answer to anyone....well come to find out he was wrong. I had to contact the board of directors and I started my complaint at the top and worked my way down. Owners are very rude, and quick to judge people....I would rather spend more at a place like kirkish and get great customer service, or take time to drive to Marquette. This place was good when it was at it's old location, but these new owners suck. Save yourself a headache and shop elsewhere. Dear Mr. "Response from owner", you and I both know that "your" resolution was handed down to you by your Vice President. That was the resolution he came to. I know this because I spoke to the man about this issue Thursday afternoon at 4:51 pm for over 12 minutes. That's well in advance from when I got to speak to you about this issue when you called me back Friday morning at 9:48 am. So to say that you took care of me is slightly misleading. Let's move on from this fact because my gripe isn't with you or anyone else from Sears Corporate, it's with that particular store and those particular co owners. I stand by my review 100%. What's truly inappropriate is to be called a liar, talked down to over a phone and to be mistaken as some kind of crooked con man. My review is exactly what it is....mine. It's not yours. It's not Bob's or Joe's....it's my review. It details my experience, in that store, with those owners, on those dates in person and over the phone. I will not apologize for being honest even if it comes across as blatant.
Great store with exceptional customer service and the best delivery and Installation in our area. If you're looking to purchase and have the rest taken care of, the team at Sears Hometown treat your home like their own.
The owners and staff are great! Super knowledgeable! I’m not easily impressed, but they were great to work with. It isn’t often you come across people that are so eager to please ! I will be a returning customer for sure! Thanks once again! Pat V.
Very expensive delivery... Starts at $70 add $30 because your fridge is larger than 18 cubic feet, add $40 to take the door off, and on and on. Super inflexible delivery times and an all around bad attitude. Nothing like a guy telling me "Actually, we did you a favor taking your order on the phone" you know who was super happy to take my order and delivery for free? Lowes of Marquette. Wondering why Sears keeps closing stores? Mystery solved.
Always helpful. I found what I needed and could take time to decide without pressure. Got all my appliances there. Fair prices and low cost delivery and set up.
The Sears hometown store in Houghton is a great place to shop for appliances, lawn and garden and especially tools since their remodel and expansion of the tool area. Dan & Gina the new owners are great!
