My name is Rebecca Brown and I am the owner of Seaside Jewelry. We are located in Beautiful sunny Florida on the West Coast.
I started as a very young child enjoying nature and all the beautiful objects that could be found when I was just walking along. I started to keep these treasures in a box and then it just started to grow and grow. To many it may have not looked like treasures, but to me, these were gems!
My mother was a painter and she enrolled me into painting classes, but it was not for me. I enjoyed mediums like clay, rocks, shells and more unique textures. It was not until 2003 and our move from New England to Florida that I really got serious about learning and finally teaching. I took private instructions on wire wrapping and then moved on to teach in a local glass studio. Once I masted the wire wrapping I became involved with dichroic glass. It is expensive and I could not find the pieces I wanted so I then started learning to fuse glass. I bought two kins, a lot of supplies and have not looked back.
I have had a sea glass collection since I was a child. We basically grew up on the beach and it was very common to find this just walking along our New England beaches. I now have pieces from all over the world and one of my jewelry lines is Sea Glass Jewelry. Just holding or looking at a piece of this beautiful glass brings back memories of childhood and fun times just enjoying the sun and sand.
I am now lucky enough to live in Florida on the Gulf of Mexico and the sea is a true inspiration.
After learning all of my new glass and wire techniques I started doing Juried Jewelry shows in Florida. A juried show simply means your work must be sent in an approved to be accepted in the the Art show. I also had a few stores selling my work for me. This was fun but I just seemed to need a place of my own and this is when Seaside Jewelry was born.
I opened a store ( Seaside Jewelry) on a street in Englewood Florida known for its Artists and wonderful shopping.
It was a wonderful success and I enjoyed my time there very much. Then I decided to take a break for a bit and had future plans to start a website for my jewelry. This gives more time at home with family and my four legged kids that are also a big part of my life. It is time to Get my website going and share my jewelry and knowledge with you all.
