My dad was borrowing my car and has been taking his vehicles here for a while, something was slipping in the transmission so he had them work on it. They did a minor fix and sent him on his way, but the issue was not resolved so he took the vehicle back. They charged my dad almost $600 in diagnostic fees for tests they ran and not ONE of them came back with a conclusive answer for the issue! I have NEVER been charged such outrageous fees for diagnosing an engine and ITS STILL NOT FIXED! So they've basically made $800 without fixing anything. My dad never requested these tests to be ran and they never mentioned the cost of running these tests. I would definitely NOT recommend anyone taking their vehicle here, especially if they are older people bc they will obviously take advantage of them. His parting words to my dad were, "Bring it back when it REALLY breaks"... sorry pal, way too many mechanics in the world to deal with terrible customer service like this - don't waste your time or money with these people!
I visited the shop about a month ago, with a wiper issue. Upon arrival, staff was friendly. My problem with this establishment is the overall tone of how employees conducted their business with me. Motor intact, a leg from my wipers somehow disconnected, causing the wipers to completely stop working. A heavy snowstorm was promised for later that day, so I called the shop ahead and asked if they were able to do it in a short time frame, as I had work later that evening. On the phone, they confirmed, yes. When I arrived, they examined and uninstalled the broken part in about 10 mins. Then, they called to have it ordered and delivered, which took about 25 mins. As we wait for the delivery, I ask questions about time and cost, to which they retorted with questions like "Oh well what are you gonna do, go to another shop?" "You have a credit card, don't ya? Then you're good." Any time I asked how the time was looking, the response was vague. Finally, after cancelling my personal plans, I say "don't rush anything; if you can fix it now, I'd rather have it done tonight before the storm." To which they keep asking "Well what time do you have to go to work?" It doesn't matter what time, I said it's fine!". The shop was not due to close soon at that time, either. Then they proceeded to say that the part ordered was not an exact match, and that they therefore had to essentially place a "band aid" on the part they said they were capable of fixing. That was a paid service. The fellow even said "If that happens to snap and break again, you let us know and we'll patch it up for you." I replied, "Well is it supposed to break again or something?" He replied, "Well it's a bandaid." Huh?! 5 mins after leaving the shop, the wipers broke again. The very next morning, after explaining the situation, I was essentially met with hostility and rejection after simply requesting that the $70 I paid to fix absolutely nothing, in 30 minutes of actual labor would be credited to the sum of the work it would take to properly fix my wipers, should I return. They replied no, because they still did the work and it still took time. I had to mull it over and said I'll have to call back at no promised time. After searching for a shop with a kinder, more open and honest approach to sharing rates and labor, I decided to forrego Second Automotive's offer to take the new, higher rate and added attitude. My boyfriend later called to get further clarification, but was met with defenses about my "rude attitude" and how they essentially feel that they undercharged me in the first place- misconstruing that my being in their actual garage for 1.5+ hours does not equate to 1.5+ hours of actual labor, especially since nothing was fixed in the first place. It's all an issue of principle for me, not the petty costs.Service: Wiper blade installation
Great service and a job well done.Trustworthy and honest...I highly recommend this place for any and all car repairs.
Dana Barton - owner , head mechanic , I think may possibly be the best mechanic around - period I've been taking my cars to him for close to 10 years now , he's honest , thorough , has integrity , and class , this man takes north star engines apart and rebuilds them , he does excellent work , I would not take my car to anyone else but him , and those how read this , I advise you to do the same
My fuel lines were severely rusted and what would have been $1000s to replace, Dana was able to do for $700. He's saved me so much money over the years that I would never trust anyone else to work on my truck.
The owner is honest and very good at what he does, and his prices are fair. This is the best local shop!
Dropped car off at night, had it ready to go by 3pm next day. Very friendly. Very prompt and helpful.
GPS has taken thr place of paper maps which I could never fold them up right once I laid them flat to see where I was going.
Good work done promptly for a reasonable price. Didn't try to sell me service I didn't need.
