We were so glad we chose Selah Photography for our wedding. Jackie was amazing. She and her husband own/run Selah. She spent a lot of time with us beforehand making sure she understood what we wanted from our photos and that her style of photography was the right fit. She is great at capturing moments at your events and in creating artistic memories rather than just having everyone line up after the wedding ceremony just to get pictures of everyone. Jackie is not your standard, run of the mill photographer--she doesn't take generic pictures but rather takes pictures that you will be proud to hang in your house to remember your wedding or other moment years and decades later. She catered to all of our needs and is simply an incredible photographer. We really feel she did a wonderful job with our wedding photos, not to mention she did this less than one month after giving birth to her first child and did some of our shots in the freezing snowy weather. She also had all of the pictures ready within a few weeks afterward. I should also mention that she worked with us to create a price/package that worked for our budget. We really felt like we struck gold with Selah Photography! If we could go back we would definitely choose her again! I only wish we would've found her earlier so she could've done our engagement shoot as well!
Jackie and Selah Photography photographed our wedding in New York over 5 years ago. She is an incredibly talented photographer, easy to work with and extremely prompt. We recently took photos with her again for our 5 year wedding anniversary - as we have moved to Colorado since our wedding - and we, again, were not disappointed. Our photos are beautiful and natural. Selah has a keen eye for capturing natural moments in photography without staging and Jackie edits the photos quickly and beautifully. We LOVE Jackie and Selah and would recommend her as a premier Colorado wedding photographer.
Selah Photography was my top choice and I never looked back. I was nervous about how the pictures from my wedding day would turn out, and people thought I was crazy flying out a Colorado Wedding Photographer for a Kansas City Wedding! My husband and I couldn't have made a better decision for our wedding when we hired Jackie and Selah Photography. The photos were returned after the wedding promptly and beautifully edited. Not only did the team work efficiently and quickly at the wedding, but everything was professional and timely from the day I first met with Jackie. As I flipped through the hundreds of pictures, Selah Photography captured every single moment in a way I couldn't have imagined; I was instantly transported back to the day, the feelings it stirred in me and the joy shared among family and friends. Jackie from Selah Photography has got to be one of the most talented people I've ever met. We just received our first set of photos and I was rendered speechless. They are SO incredibly amazing. Photography is extremely important to us, and we wanted something better and more unique than a typical photographer. Well...Jackie went ahead and blew our high standards out of the water. She didn't just deliver photographs. She delivered creatively composed and stunning pieces of artwork. And at the same time managed to capture images that feel genuinely like "us". Not to mention that she is a joy to work with. If you're like us, and are looking for really breathtaking photos, then you've lucked out in stumbling across Selah—Jackie is truly a stand out gem of a photographer. Thank you Jackie, for being so good at what you do!
The odds that you'll find better photography in Denver is slim to none. Selah's wedding work is amazing-- they get the shots you didn't know you wanted. This is exactly what a great event photographer should do. You didn't come to this review for 'event photographer' theory though did you? You came because life is good. Life is so good you want someone to photograph it, to memorialize it for the rest of time so you can always remember how good it was. But your good life is not just you and your best friends smiling your camera smiles in some stock pose. The photographer we hired from Selah, Jackie, gets well beyond that stuff and manages to capture some essence of what's important, unique, and timeless in the situation. So why listen to me? Because I hired a different company to take my photos the first time and was disappointed with the results. This gives me a standard of comparison which is more than most people get. Engaging Selah to take new ones after the fact was a great decision. I'd give 6 stars if I could.
Asking Jackie and Matt to photograph our wedding was one of the best planning decisions we made. Working with them was seamless, straightforward, and so enjoyable. They made our wedding day as relaxed as possible while still capturing 1000 photos – an impressive feat! We couldn’t be happier with everything they gave us: honest information, beautiful engagement photos, and the best wedding photos we’ve ever seen. They truly gave us a lifelong treasure; of course they come with our highest recommendation!
Jackie and her husband are not only amazing photographers but awesome people. They truly captured the essence of our day. Looking back at the photos has filled our hearts with such joy. They take the time to get to know you and what you are hoping to capture and tailor their technique to your needs. What they accomplish is nothing short of magic. I've never seen such amazingly beautiful wedding photos.
I am the person that cares more about the photography than I do about just about anything else wedding related. No one remembers the food. No one remembers the music. People remember the love and laughter. And what better way to capture those moments than with really good photography. I mean, the kind of photography that captures the wrinkled nose because I was laughing so hard. Or the kind of photography that can be gallery wrapped and put on your wall forever- it's a timeless piece of art. I contacted Selah Photography in January 2013 without a wedding date and without a wedding venue. I just wanted engagement photos! I corresponded several times with Jackie about who I am and what I value in photography. She provided a lengthy description of what kind of photographer she is. She wanted to make sure that we were a good fit. And I knew, we were ment to be... FOREVER. I think she told me an engagement session would take 1-1.5 hours. She spent 3 hours with my fiance and me. We walked all over Boulder to a variety of locations. I was able to get some of everything- close and intimate, goofy and playful, outdoorsy, culture, color. Today, I view my photos often and sometimes think that it appears that several different photographers were capturing our photos. They are all different. All unique and all very good. While I still do not have a wedding date or wedding venue, Jackie will somehow be incorporated in all future photo sessions. I don't want to run out of reasons of why to have Jackie take pictures of me. From wedding, to maternity, to baby and some day family photos, I will be one of Jackie's clients forever. I haven't discussed this with her yet, but I'll brake it to her when the time is right. ;- My suggestion: Own it. Seriously, everyone wants a good picture of themselves. Why else are you reading reviews about photographers? And make sure Jackie's style is the right fit for you. If you are looking for a photographer that will pose you, tell you to look directly at the camera, say "cheese" kind-of-thing, you may want to look at someone else.
Our photographer, Sarah, who works for Selah Photography, did a fantastic job. She matched the exact tone we wanted for our photos and pushed us to try things that we were hesitant on to make sure we had everything covered. Sarah also did a great job of making sure she got the right shots of us and our friends during the reception. Most important, I love the photos. They reflect us and the day as I perceived it and I think she did an amazing job.
