9/12/23 When the hospital case manager informed me of our limited choices re mom’s next placement, I was apprehensive- none of the facilities were located within our county. I toured Select Miami Lakes with a girlfriend & we both were impressed with the cleanliness & layout of the facility. My mother was admitted, and was there for about 35 days; discharged 9/7/23. The staff too many to name - doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, PT/OT/Speech, nursing assistants attending to mom was excellent. Their care, compassion, sensitivity, kindness, respect, attentiveness & professionalism did not go unnoticed. Their words of encouragement not only helped her progress physically, but mentally as well. Some of the nurses & respiratory therapists would check in even when not assigned to mom - she so appreciated those check-ins: One nursing assistant stands out & I want to express my gratitude, & that is Yasmin Moraga. Our appreciation also extends to Alejandra, Peggy CM, PT & OT Brittany & Melissa, Speech Serene, dietician Anay, front desk Soli, security Gina, & cafeteria personnel. Everyone made us feel welcomed! On behalf of my mom Grace, my dad, siblings, & grandchildren, we appreciate you all! *Although I gave a 5, there are areas that need improvement however the positives outweighed the negatives. I want to take the time to thank the exceptional Doctors and staff at Select Specialty Hospital in Miami Lakes. My father has been here since the first week of March, and the quality of services and patient care have been exceptional. I want to give a special thanks to the amazing physical therapist specially to Chantal Sanchez and David Bencomo, they have been exceptional with my dad, they treat him like their own family, they are kind and caring. They always go the extra mile to make sure my dad is getting the best care and also the motivation that he needs to keep fighting.
My husband was here from July 31 until yesterday. What a wonderful place. Very clean and very caring staff. They were always positive and they make you feel like family. Even my husband would say everyday how amazing the staff is. The food in the cafeteria delicious too. Respiratory and speech really did an amazing job with my husbands progression. The staff here take a lot of pride in everything they do and the P/T staff amazing. Wound care ,podiatrist, doctors, dialysis staff, and Caseworker outstanding. They have such an amazing team. My husband progressed so much with the P/T staff. This place was a distance for me but so worth it for the 5 star treatment. I am so happy I chose this place. They were always encouraging and happy for my husbands progress. I have heard nightmares about other places. Not this place they set the standard for professionalism and pride. Such a positive environment. Thank you all for your service you do it all well. We are so grateful for all the hard work and dedication you put in each day.
My father spent a few weeks here in June and I have to say the service was amazing! The staff, cleanliness, and overall care and attention was top notch from the moment he arrived to the moment he left. The only thing he complained about was the food, but what “hospital food” is delicious? Plus, that just gave us his family the opportunity to spoil him and take him food everyday, causing us to spend more quality time with him . Thank you to all who work here and for all that you do. You allowed me to have more time with my dad and I am forever grateful.
SSH is a great facility. All the therapists treat their patients with compassion, empathy and great clinical skills. As a professor, I send my students there for clinical training. When their training is completed, they come out more confident and competent clinicians. Thank you!
Background: First, I like to say that I am in health care field. I do not work for Select or any affiliates. I have not been paid or even asked to make this recommendation. I am writing because this place is a gem of a find. We are in the Miami Lakes office. We brought my father to this hospital by recommendation of a colleague, lots of research and the google reviews . If you are reading this, you know how hard it is to find a good place for your loved one. We didn't just want to stick him anywhere and our health insurance was trying to send him to a nursing home, which would have been disastrous. Our family is highly involved with my fathers care. Our families live in North Carolina and England yes the country. We have been traveling to spend time with my dad that has both acute and chronic health issues. We are here because of his acute issues. This is not a nursing home. Pros: In our wing, patients have single rooms with private bathrooms from what I could see. This place is clean. They have security. They do in bed X-rays. They administer medicines. Our case manager Martha C is caring and has good communication. But the really stars of this place is the staff. They are caring and really care about their patients. We have been here for about two week, and everyone that has been taking care of my dad has been wonderful. Blanca, Alexis, Laura, Lindsey and too many others to thank. All the shifts have been great. They also have respiratory therapy which we are using. Cons: Like with any hospital, pinning down a doctor to talk to is tough. But medical care is still great. I am not sure if they are independent contractors, but we have seen cardiologist, pulmonologist, nephrologist and infectious disease so i guess this part should go in the pros column. Warning: this does have a second had opinion. Physical therapy doesn't come around too often. To be fair my father is getting over something acute, so he has now energy anyways. This is second hand info from a family member not from what I personally experienced, since I didn't see them. But I would judge for yourself.
As a medical device account Mgr I get to visit a lot of health care facilities in South Florida…I can honestly say that Select Specialty Hospital is one of my favorite accounts because their staff is not only professional but also very caring. This location is extremely clean. But a huge language barrier. Make sure you read all documents before signing. Make sure The facility is completely aware of the patient's situation. Because if they are not able to diagnose or distinguish issue, they will ship them off to the worst hospital.
I’m a nursing student at MRU and had the privilege of experiencing a clinical rotation here at Select. The nurses I shadowed were incredibly knowledgeable and willing to teach with kindness and diligence. I’m grateful for the weeks spent perfecting my clinical skills and thankful to the hospital for taking the time to teach future nurses.
I had an amazing experience working alongside my peers in my clinical rotation with professors Osvaldo Soler. I have learned a lot from the nurses and the staff was very welcoming. I hope to one day be part of the quality and outstanding patient care at this hospital.
