Delicous Live Music at its intimate best.
Since it's inception in 2006, "The Separation of Church and Stadium" house concert series has become a Boulder institution and a favorite venue for fans and performers alike.
The series first started in the home of Roger Wolsey. (next door to the chapel and across the street from the stadium, hence the name the "separation of church and stadium" (a play on the constitutional separation of church & state ; ) When it became clear that his living room was no longer adequate for all of the people who showed up, the series shifted next door to the lounge at the highly community friendly Wesley Chapel - which is directly across from CU's Folsom Field stadium.
The lounge provides a tasteful yet relaxed atmosphere for musical magic to happen. There are a variety of seating options ranging from sofas, couches, and cushy chairs, to stackable padded chairs and floor cushions.
The space can handle up to 35 people - ideal for music lovers and performers who enjoy audiences who are there to soak in what they have to offer.
The series has hosted over 30 performances with a wide range of musicians - mostly singer-songwriter types, but also shows featuring solo instrumentalists.
The suggested donation for most shows is $10-15 and the proceeds are split 50/50 between the artist and the venue. Artists are welcome to sell their cds as well.
Simple cheese & crackers and beverages are offered, but audience members are encouraged to bring in their own foods and drinks to share. We seek to build and foster a sense - and reality - of community.
If you're a performer and would like to book a gig with this series, please contact Roger at [email protected] and cc Teresa, the office manager, at [email protected].
We promote all shows via anna's list, facebook, Boulder Weekly, and by putting up 40 posters around town.
Shows are typically on Friday or Saturday evenings. Typically with doors opening at 7:30PM and Show from 8-9:30 or 10PM.
Wesley Chapel is at the corner of University Heights Ave. & Folsom St. There are bike racks and it's right on the Hop bus line.
** For those wishing to do a bigger show, our main stage upstairs (with all the fancy lights, etc). can handle up to 100 people. **
